The San Francisco 49ers will open their preseason Saturday evening against the Tennessee Titans. Teams never get through a training camp without making at least minor tweaks to their 90-man roster. For the 49ers, the lead-up to their first preseason matchup of the year has come with a slew of roster maneuvers to account for a lack of availability at certain positions.
While it’s not ideal to thrust new players into a game situation on the fly, minor moves on the margins are much more palatable than, say, trading an All-Pro wide receiver in the middle of camp. There are also a handful of players missing either on injured lists or because of holdouts. Trent Williams, for example, is not technically on the 90-man roster because he’s on the reserve/did not report list.

Final Thoughts on the Roster
This roster is a mix of proven veterans and exciting young talent. The 49ers have a chance to be a very good team in 2024, but it will be interesting to see how the team performs with such a young, developing roster. It’s still early, but the 49ers have a bright future ahead of them.
