Major Lorry and Van Pile-Up Causes 2-Mile Queues on A13 in East London

Several lorries and vans were involved in an accident on the A13 in East London this morning (Thursday, August 29), causing major traffic disruption and two-mile queues. The incident, which occurred between the A1306 for the Wennington Interchange and the Ferry Lane Interchange, Rainham, has completely blocked the westbound side of the road.

The accident was first reported by traffic monitoring website Inrix at 7.23am. By 7.30am, all traffic was being held, with at least six lorries and vans stopped. The incident has caused traffic to stack up for miles, with queues stretching back beyond the M25 intersection.

Traffic Disruption and Diversions

Traffic caught in the queues is diverting into Rainham via New Road to escape delays. This diversion is likely causing congestion within Rainham as drivers attempt to avoid the major disruption on the A13. Google Maps shows traffic disruption as far back as 4.6 miles along the Westbound side of the A13, with an estimated travel time of 34 minutes.

The accident happened on the A13, a mile after Wennington, at 7.10am this morning. The accident has caused nearly three miles of queues to form on the Westbound side of the A13, which has become totally blocked.
