ABBA legend Björn Ulvaeus has tied the knot for the third time, marrying his partner Christina Sas on Saturday in a ceremony officiated by comedian and ex-“Great British Bake Off” host Sandi Toksvig.
“Today on the 21st of September 2024, Björn Ulvaeus married Christina Sas from Herning, Denmark,” a statement posted on the 79-year-old songwriter and guitarist’s Instagram page reads.
The pair met in the southern German city of Nuremberg in 2021 “in connection with the release of ABBA’s last album Voyage and started dating in the spring of 2022,” the statement continues. “The wedding took place in Copenhagen in the presence of close friends and family.”
Toksvig, who is a former host of the reality cooking show “The Great British Bake Off” (known to US audiences as “The Great British Baking Show”), was captured in a wedding photo shared on Instagram wearing a red robe with gold designs, with papers in hand and the happy couple in the background.
Ulvaeus’ representatives confirmed to the PA Media news agency that Toksvig conducted the wedding ceremony.
At its outset, ABBA, which dominated the US and European charts in the 1970s, consisted of two couples: Ulvaeus and vocalist Agnetha Fältskog, and songwriter and keyboard player Benny Andersson and vocalist Anni-Frid Lyngstad.
Ulvaeus married Fältskog in 1971 and Andersson and Lyngstad wed in 1978.
After winning the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Waterloo,” and making global hits such as “Mamma Mia,” “Dancing Queen,” “SOS” and “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight),” Ulvaeus and Fältskog divorced before the release of 1979 song “Voulez-Vous.”
Two years later, Andersson and Lyngstad were also divorced and the group disbanded in 1982.
Ulvaeus married Lena Kallersjö in 1981 but the pair divorced after 41 years of marriage in 2022, a year after ABBA reunited.
He has four children, two from each of his former marriages.

ABBA star Björn Ulvaeus has tied the knot for a third time!
On Saturday, Sept. 21, a message posted to Ulvaeus' Instagram account confirmed that the musician and Christina Sas had married in Copenhagen, Denmark — her native country — that day.
Ulvaeus, 79, confirmed the news alongside multiple photographs, which showed former The Great British Baking Showhost Sandi Toksvig seemingly officiated while wearing a long red and gold robe.
Toksvig previously worked on the script for Mamma Mia! The Party; an ABBA-themed dining experience held at The O2 Arena in London.
Ulvaeus and his wife were both dressed by fashion designer Soeren Le Schmidt for the ceremony, the Instagram post confirmed. The ABBA star donned a dark suit and white T-shirt for the ceremony, while Sas wore a long green dress and carried a blue bouquet of flowers.

“Today on the 21st of September 2024, Björn Ulvaeus married Christina Sas from Herning, Denmark,” the post’s caption read.
“They met in Nürnberg in 2021 in connection with the release of ABBA’s last album Voyage and started dating in the spring of 2022,” the message continued.
The caption added, “The wedding took place in Copenhagen in the presence of close friends and family. Sandi Toksvig, Anne Linnet and Kaya Brüel generously performed and made the evening extra special.”
Among the carousel of images, the newlyweds posed with Danish musicians Linnet and Brüel, with the first snap showing the couple posing among the trees.
Ulvaeus was previously married to fellow ABBA band member Agnetha Fältskog from 1971 to 1980, before tying the knot with Lena Kallersjö in 1981. He shares two children with each of his ex-wives.
Ulvaeus and Kallersjö were married for 41 years before divorcing in 2022.

On Feb. 23 of that year, the former couple released a statement confirming the breakup, per The Independent.
“We remain close and good friends and will continue to celebrate our grandchildren’s birthdays and other family celebrations together,” the message read at the time, according to the outlet.
Music-wise, ABBA — which also consists of Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad — dropped its ninth and final studio album, Voyage, in November 2021, announcing a virtual ABBA Voyage concert in a custom-built arena in London to accompany the release.
While speaking to Rolling Stone U.K. in an interview published in May 2023, Ulvaeus said of whether he ever envisaged “a digital version” of himself “performing to thousands every night” after ABBA’s split in 1982, “Of course not! Back in 1982 I had just bought my first IBM PC and there was no internet, there was nothing.”
“We had 64K RAM and that was about it. At that point I thought that ABBA might come back together and do a new album maybe, but that never happened. What’s happened to us now is just mind-boggling,” he added.
Abba’s Björn Ulvaeus got married for a third time on Saturday, with the ceremony officiated by the former Great British Bake Off presenter Sandi Toksvig.
Ulvaeus was pictured smiling in a sleek grey suit and T-shirt as he held on tightly to his bride, who wore a khaki-coloured dress.
The Danish-British presenter has been friends with Ulvaeus since they collaborated on the theatrical show Mamma Mia! The Party in 2018.
They announced that they were a couple in June 2022 at the premiere of Ulvaeus’s musical Pippi at the Circus.
“We have dated for a while and I felt like I wanted to take her to this event. So this is the first time we go out together,” the singer said at the time.
Four months previously, Ulvaeus announced he had split from his second wife of 41 years, Lena Kallersjo. The couple share two daughters, Emma, 42, and Anna, 38, and agreed to split their £100 million in assets equally.
From 1971 to 1979, Ulvaeus was married to his bandmate and first wife Agnetha Faltskog. They had two children, Linda, 51, and Peter, 46.

Abba’s Björn Ulvaeus has married his partner in a ceremony officiated by the TV presenter Sandi Toksvig.
The 79-year-old Swedish singer, who has been married twice before, met Christina Sas in Nuremberg, Germany, in 2021 in connection with the release of Abba’s latest album Voyage.
A post to his Instagram page said: “Today on the 21st of September 2024, Björn Ulvaeus married Christina Sas from Herning, Denmark. They met in Nurnberg in 2021 in connection with the release of Abba’s last album Voyage and started dating in the spring of 2022.
“The wedding took place in Copenhagen in the presence of close friends and family. Sandi Toksvig, Anne Linnet and Kaya Brüel generously performed and made the evening extra special.”
Ulvaeus posted photos from the day, one of which shows former Great British Bake Off host Toksvig dressed in a red robe. The presenter is standing next to Ulvaeus, wearing a suit, and his wife, wearing a muted green wrap dress.
Representatives for Ulvaeus confirmed to the PA news agency that Toksvig had held the ceremony.
Ulvaeus is known for being one-quarter of Swedish pop group Abba, who this year celebrated 50 years since they won the Eurovision song contest with Waterloo.
The group originally comprised two couples – Ulvaeus and Agnetha Fältskog, and Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad. Fältskog and Ulvaeus, who married in 1971, divorced in 1980, while Andersson and Lyngstad divorced in 1981 – a year before the band split.
The quartet did not reform to perform at Eurovision this year despite the event being held in Sweden after Loreen won the competition in 2023 with her hit single Tattoo. Ulvaeus was also previously married to Lena Kallersjö.
Björn Ulvaeus has married his partner of two years, Christina Sas. Taking to Instagram on Saturday, the ABBA star gave fans a glimpse of their outdoor wedding in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Alongside a carousel of stunning photos, the caption read: “Today on the 21st of September 2024, Björn Ulvaeus married Christina Sas from Herning, Denmark. In the snaps, Björn sported a grey tailored suit and a white T-shirt. Meanwhile, his beautiful bride Christina, 52, strayed from tradition, opting for a khaki green gown with ruching along the waist. She wore her blonde hair down in curls and carried a bouquet of cornflower blue and indigo flowers.
Comedian Sandi Toksvig, known and loved for presenting The Great British Bake Off, served as their wedding officiant, donning a red and gold robe to marry Björn and Christina. Following their nuptials, Danish singer Anne Linnet performed live for the couple.
Björn, 79, has been married twice before. In 1971, the music mogul wed his ABBA bandmate, Agnetha Fältskog. They welcomed two children – Linda Elin Ulvaeus (born 23 February 1973), and Peter Christian Ulvaeus (born 4 December 1977), before separating in 1979.
“In many ways, Agnetha and my divorce was an amicable one, we just grew apart and decided ‘let’s split up’,” Björn explained in an interview. Agnetha was later married to Tomas Sonnenfeldt from 1990 to 1993. She has continued to release her own music and resides on a farm on the island of Ekerö in Sweden.
Björn’s second marriage was to music journalist, Lena Kallersjö. The former couple said ‘I do’ two years after Björn had separated from Agnetha. They welcomed two daughters – Emma (born in 1982) and Anna (born in 1986).
Issuing a joint statement in February 2022, Björn and Lena announced their decision to split after 41 years of marriage. “After many wonderful and eventful years, we have decided to go our separate ways,” they confirmed.
“We remain close friends and will continue to celebrate our grandchildren’s birthdays and other family holidays together.”
While Björn has refrained from speaking publicly about his relationship with Christina, the 79-year-old has attended numerous high-profile events with her at his side.
On September 4, less than three weeks before their wedding, Christina joined Björn on the red carpet for the 5th anniversary gala of Mamma Mia! The Party. Held at the O2 in London, the couple held hands as they walked along the ocean-blue carpet.
