Amanda Holden has shared her 'relief' as her daughter Lexi Hughes seemingly got the A-level results she wanted. The teen was among those up and down the country nervously finding out how they did in their exams on Thursday (August 15).

The family are currently holidaying in Corfu but Lexi still received her results and Amanda appeared thrilled. Sharing a picture of the model on her Instagram Story, the mum-of-two said: "Congratulations to our @lexi.highes."

Amanda, 53, went on to say: "We couldn't be prouder. All the grades and 1st choice uni [red heart emoji] What a bloody relief [crying laughing emoji]. She then revealed the restaurant created a last-minute cake to congratulate the 18-year-old's achievements.

Lexi's A-Level Success

Hundreds of thousands of Year 13 students received their results on Thursday, and among them were Amanda Holden's and Peter Jones' children. The Class of 2024 was hailed as the smartest cohort in UK history and Amanda, 53, was thrilled with her daughter Lexi's results day.

Taking to her Instagram Story, Heart Breakfast presenter Amanda shared a photo of an emotional Lexi in front of a cake that read 'Lexi congratulations' and 'OMG I did it!'. In a second snap, Amanda, who is on holiday with Lexi in Corfu, wrote: 'Congratulations to our @lexi.hughes__ we couldn't be prouder. All the grades and 1st choice uni what a bl**dy relief.'

Overcoming E. coli

Lexi's success comes after she battled a life-threatening illness while sitting her A-levels. The student, who is signed to Storm Models, was admitted to hospital with life-threatening E. coli amid the latest outbreak.

She was on a ward for five days with her mother and her father Chris at her bedside. While discussing the warning signs to look out for amid the latest outbreak, Amanda revealed to The Sun in July that her daughter Lexi had been suffering from bloating and stomach cramps.

She said: 'For about three weeks, Lexi had been complaining of bloating and stomach cramps. She was not happy at all and in quite a lot of pain with her tummy. It was around the time of revision and her A-levels, so I was just putting this down to exam stress.' However, Amanda admitted after taking her daughter to her GP, who insisted on her doing some blood and stool samples, the results came back as a bacterial infection.

The star then revealed that while she was filming in Spain, she began to get calls from various government officials. They were asking her to fill out several forms about where her daughter might have eaten and what kind of food they had stored in their home.

She also confessed that the antibiotics her daughter was given didn't seem to be working. Amanda claimed her doctor called her saying 'I don't want to alarm you' before telling her Lexi's bloods were 'through the roof' and she was in danger of 'contracting sepsis'.

The Britain's Got Talent judge recalled how terrified she was to hear the word 'sepsis'. She revealed that Lexi's was the 113th case of E. coli in the country in just two weeks - and that the doctor had warned them that this was just the tip of the iceberg. Lexi, thankfully, made a full recovery.

A Proud Mum's Celebration

Mother-Daughter Duo

The family have been soaking up the sun on the idyllic island of Corfu over their summer holiday, with Amanda sharing some incredible bikini snaps. She also shared a loved-up snap with her husband Chris, joking about his rare appearance on her Instagram. It comes after Lexi faced a health scare when she was hospitalised with E. coli during her A-levels. Amanda chose to share Lexi's experience publicly to raise awareness about the symptoms and dangers of E. coli.

Amanda revealed: "For about three weeks, Lexi had been complaining of bloating and stomach cramps, she was not happy at all and in quite a lot of pain with her tummy." Initially attributing it to exam stress, Amanda and Chris eventually sought medical advice. After tests, their GP confirmed Lexi was battling a bacterial infection.

While the TV and radio star was away in Spain for work, she received urgent calls from officials to complete forms tracing Lexi's food history, which led to the discovery that Lexi had contracted VTEC E. Coli, a particularly virulent strain uncommon in humans.

A Busy Schedule

But her feet will barely touch UK soil before she returns to sunnier climes. Rumours have swirled that ITV are planning to sign up Amanda and Alan Carr to present a new holiday show. The hope is the move will see the pair recreate the huge success of Amanda & Alan’s Italian Job, where they help renovate properties around the Med. The pair have recently filmed a third series in Spain, but they could be offered a big money deal on ITV.

Amanda is also due to be at the helm of Cheaters: Unfinished Business. The new Netflix show will be filmed in a luxury 10-bedroom villa in Majorca. Amanda's show will see exes - who split over an infidelity - come face-to-face with each other on the sunshine isle. In a huge effort to beat ITV2's Love Island in the ratings, the contestants will be staying in an even 'bigger and better' villa.

The Sun revealed in April that Amanda had landed the job as host for Cheaters: Unfinished Business in a deal with Netflix worth £500,000. With the help of a dating expert, Amanda will oversee eight former couples reuniting at the luxury Spanish villa. They will then see whether they can move past the betrayal that ended their relationship and get back together, or part ways on good terms. Amanda, who also hosts Heart FM's Breakfast Show, has described it as her "dream job". She said: "Sometimes dreams really do come true. All my career I always wanted to host a show about love and relationships - and this is it. A series about second chances and unfinished business. I can’t wait to meet and help these couples work out whether they can forgive and forget. I’m absolutely thrilled to be part of it."

This will be Amanda's first show with Netflix.
