Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's son Pax is on the mend. Days after the 20-year-old was hospitalized following an e-bike accident in Los Angeles, he has been released from the ICU, a source tells PEOPLE exclusively.
"Pax has been released from the ICU. He suffered complex trauma, and now begins the long road of recovery and physical therapy," the source says.
The source adds that Pax and his mother — who was by his side as he recovered in the hospital — "are deeply grateful for the quick and life-saving action of first responders, and the outstanding medical care he received."
Jolie, 49, continues to be with her son, the source notes, as do his siblings, who "have been visiting and helping," the insider says. "They are all very close."
Pax was hospitalized after the accident on Monday, July 29.
He reportedly sustained a head injury and hip pain, TMZ said.
The Los Angeles Police Department later told PEOPLE that a man in his early 20s was riding a scooter when an accident was reported at 5:12 p.m. on July 29, and that a severe traffic collision report was completed.
New details are emerging regarding Pax Jolie-Pitt's electric bike accident in Los Angeles last week, which left the 20-year-old in the ICU with a head injury.
On Monday, ET spoke with Lola Cavalli -- one of the first people at the scene of the accident to render medical aid to Pax on July 29 -- who opened up about his injuries immediately after the crash.
According to Cavalli, she called 9-1-1 and was instructed by the operator on how to assess his wounds and was told to try and stop any apparent bleeding until medics arrived.
"I didn't see any broken bones, I did not see, like, profound bleeding, so to speak. And since I was directed to apply pressure at the site where it was bleeding, I did not see where I could apply the pressure, because it was on the head. He was hit on the head," Cavalli explained. "I had no idea where you would put the pressure to stop the bleeding on the head."
"And it was not a lot of blood. Like, you didn't see like a fountain of blood rushing out," she added. "[But] his mouth was filled with blood. When [he] was trying to speak, I saw a little tiny stream of blood coming out of the mouth."
However, she explained that the more immediate concern seemed to be oncoming traffic.
"I saw the traffic, because he was right in the middle of an intersection and nobody behind us could see what's happening," she recalled. "I took control of the traffic. I started directing it to make sure that he was not run over by another car and I was not run over by a car."
Added Cavalli, "We did everything we thought would be necessary to make sure that the ambulance arrived, and [to make sure] oncoming traffic from both directions keeps on moving, instead of piling up, which would make our ambulance's approach impossible completely."
According to the LAPD, paramedics were called to an accident at Hobart and Los Feliz Boulevard around 5 p.m. after an e-bike rear-ended a vehicle that was stopped at a red light. The e-bike rider was then transported to a local hospital with a severe head injury, but was conscious and alert.
ET learned Monday morning that the son of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt is on the mend.
"Pax has been released from the ICU," a close friend of the family told ET. "He suffered complex trauma, and now begins the long road of recovery and physical therapy."
ET has learned that the Maleficent star is by her son's side amid his healing journey and that his siblings have been helpful.
"Pax and Angelina are deeply grateful for the quick and life-saving action of first responders, and the outstanding medical care he received," the family friend added.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's son, Pax Jolie-Pitt, is one lucky guy after police say he smashed his electric bicycle into a car on a busy L.A. street ... TMZ has learned.
The 20-year-old was riding Monday on Los Feliz Blvd. around 5 PM -- so, rush hour on a heavily trafficked street -- and as he approached a red light, he rammed into the back of a car stopped at the intersection ... according to law enforcement sources.
We're told the driver of the car got out to check on Pax, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Police and paramedics arrived on the scene, and witnesses tell us Pax was experiencing hip pain, and had apparently suffered a head injury ... so, he was rushed to an L.A. hospital for treatment.
We're told medics feared he suffered a minor brain bleed in the wreck, but the latest word is that Pax is stable, and might be able to go home sometime tonight.
Pax -- the 4th of Angelina and Brad's 6 kids -- has been seen recently cruising around L.A. on a BMX-style e-bike, and almost always without a helmet.
California helmet laws differ depending on the class of bicycle ... so, it's unclear if he needs one with that particular ride. What is clear, is a helmet would've come in handy during today's accident.
Pax has dabbled in acting ... landing a voice over role in "Kung Fu Panda 3" and uncredited role in his mom's Disney flick, "Maleficent."
We've reached to Angelina's reps for comment, but no word back yet.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's son Pax Jolie-Pitt was hospitalized Monday following an accident while he was riding an electric bike in Los Angeles, a source close to Jolie confirmed.
The source added that Jolie is "by her son's side" and that he is in "stable condition."
Representatives for Jolie and Pitt did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
TMZ first reported that Jolie-Pitt, 20, was not wearing a helmet when he was riding his e-bike Monday afternoon.
Los Angeles Police Officer David Cuellar told NBC News on Tuesday that there was a traffic collision at Los Feliz and Hobart boulevards but would not confirm the identities of the parties involved.
"A vehicle was waiting at a red light, and an individual on an electric bike rear-ended the vehicle. There is no evidence of a crime, and we ended up taking a severe traffic report," he said.
Pax is one of six children of Pitt and Jolie, who are in a divorce battle. The couple split in 2016 and Jolie filed for divorce, accusing Pitt of choking one of their children on a volatile trans-Atlantic flight. NBC News obtained the FBI report on the incident in 2022 following a Freedom of Information/Privacy Act lawsuit brought by “Jane Doe.”
The Los Angeles County Department of Child and Family Services investigated Pitt after the alleged incident. NBC News has reported that he was cleared of any wrongdoing, and criminal charges were never brought against him.
Since 2016, the exes have been in a legal battle over their winery, Château Miraval, in the south of France. Pitt sued Jolie, accusing her of having improperly sold her half of the winery to Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler. Miraval was the site of their wedding in 2014.
Although the couple’s divorce is still ongoing, in 2019 they were granted a “bifurcated judgment,” meaning they are legally single.
Pax Jolie-Pitt’s mouth was “filled with blood” after he got into a terrifying e-bike crash last week, an eyewitness claims.
Lola Cavalli, one of the first people at the scene of the accident to assist Pax, told “Entertainment Tonight” that the 20-year-old’s main injuries appeared on his head.
“I didn’t see any broken bones, I did not see, like, profound bleeding, so to speak, and since I was directed to apply pressure at the site where it was bleeding, I did not see where I could apply the pressure, because it was on the head,” she explained.
Cavalli noted that it wasn’t “a lot of blood … like a fountain of blood rushing out” but revealed the college student’s “mouth was filled with blood.”
“When he was trying to speak, I saw a little tiny stream of blood coming out of the mouth,” she told the outlet.
Paramedics arrived on the scene and transported Pax, who is one of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s six kids, to the hospital where he sought treatment in the intensive care unit.
“He suffered complex trauma, and now begins the long road of recovery and physical therapy,” the source shared.
The source said that Pax and the “Maleficent” star, 49, are “deeply grateful for the quick and life-saving action of first responders, and the outstanding medical care he received.”
Another source previously told Page Six that Pax’s pals were worried about the celebrity progeny because he had been in multiple e-bike accidents prior to last week’s ordeal.
“His friends are concerned about him,” an insider told us exclusively. “He’s being reckless. They’re worried.”
We were also told Pax has been “consistent” about never wearing a helmet on the vehicle despite his rocky riding history.
A third source in the know of Pax’s vehicular history told us that he’s also had trouble with cars.
“He has had a string of car crashes,” the source claimed. “It’s not great. Pax is a troubled kid, and Angelina is doing her best to help him.”
Angelina Jolie — and Brad Pitt, to a lesser extent — may be faced with difficult personal and professional choices in the coming weeks as their son, Pax Jolie-Pitt, faces a “long road of recovery” after suffering “complex trauma” in an electronic bike accident last week.
The 20-year-old son of the bitterly divorced couple has left the intensive-care unit of a Los Angeles hospital, where his mother has remained by his side since his July 29 accident in Los Angeles, People magazine reported Monday.
Pax Jolie-Pitt suffered a head injury and possible brain bleed in the crash, in which he was not wearing a helmet and was knocked unconscious, leaving witnesses to wonder if he had been killed, TMZ reported. Now he must undergo a long course of “recovery and physical therapy,” a source told People.
But as Jolie-Pitt continues to recover, his mother may be left to decide whether she wants to leave his side to travel to Venice in a few weeks. Jolie is due to promote “Maria” at the glittery Venice Film Festival, which opens Aug. 28, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “Maria,” a biopic of the legendary opera singer Maria Callas, marks Jolie’s first starring role in a prestigious, Oscar-fare film in more than 15 years. It’s directed by Pablo Larraín, the Chilean auteur who led Natalie Portman and Kristen Stewart to Oscar nominations in his previous biopics of famous, tragic women, “Jackie” and “Spencer,” about Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Princess Diana, respectively.
Complicating Jolie’s “Maria” debut is the fact that Pitt also is expected to be at the Venice Film Festival, to promote “Wolfs,” an action drama in which he co-stars with George Clooney, his longtime friend and former co-star, The Hollywood Reporter also said.
The Daily Mail reported last week that arrangements had been made behind the scenes to make sure that the warring ex-couple — who continue to be embroiled in legal disputes eight years after they split — will not be at the film festival at the same time.
Despite their lack of contact, a source told DailyMail.com: “Brad is distraught and worried over Pax’s accident, but he is unable to reach him.” If Pitt is so worried now, it’s likely that he’ll have his son on his mind when he travels to Venice.
“It is very upsetting to Brad whenever he hears of one of the kids being hurt and he feels completely powerless because there is nothing that he can do at all,” the source also said.
Jolie-Pitt was riding his BMX-style electric bike on busy Los Feliz Boulevard in Los Angeles, near his mother’s home, during rush hour on July 29, TMZ reported. As he approached a red light on his bike, he slammed into the back of a car stopped at an intersection, police sources told TMZ.
Whatever injury Jolie-Pitt suffered, it’s possible he made it worse because of his reported habit of not wearing a helmet while riding his bike around his hometown of Los Angeles. TMZ reported that Jolie-Pitt had recently been seen cruising around the city on his bike, and almost always without a helmet.
Page Six quoted a source who said that Jolie-Pitt had been involved in “multiple” accidents on his bicycle prior to Monday’s crash, leaving his friends worried over his “reckless” behavior. The Daily Mail also reported that Jolie also has been concerned about her “troubled” son and had been seeking help for him.
Jolie-Pitt is the second oldest of the six children once happily shared by Jolie and Pitt. That is, until Jolie filed for divorce in September 2016, and she and Pitt became locked in a bitter, years-long divorce battle over custody and the division of property, notably a French winery and chateau that the former super couple purchased together in better times.
Jolie-Pitt’s five siblings are Maddox, 22, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and 16-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. Jolie-Pitt was adopted by Jolie from a Vietnamese orphanage in 2007, when he was 3 years old, and Pitt joined in adopting him the following year.
It’s been reported that Jolie-Pitt and the two older siblings, Maddox and Zahara, are estranged from Pitt and have “virtually no contact” with him. When Jolie-Pitt was 16, he reportedly used his private Instagram account to blast his father on Father’s Day in 2020. He called Pitt an “awful human being” and a “world class (expletive)” who makes the youngest of his six children “tremble in fear.”
Pax Jolie-Pitt is on the road to recovery after he landed in the hospital as a result of a traffic collision on an electric bicycle.
A lot of the bitterness between Jolie and Pitt stems from her allegations that the “Once Upon in Hollywood” star was heavily intoxicated and verbally and physically abusive to her and several of their children during a September 2016 private plane ride from Europe to Los Angeles. Pitt has long denied the allegations, but his reported behavior on the plane ride prompted Jolie to file for divorce.
The 20-year son of Oscar-winning actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt left the ICU this weekend, People reported Sunday. Pax suffered “complex trauma” but is now on the mend and set to begin physical therapy, an unnamed source told the outlet. Additionally, “Girl, Interrupted” star Jolie has visited her son regularly during his hospitalization.
“They are all very close,” the source said.
Jolie-Pitt was hospitalized July 29 after he ran his e-bike into the rear of a stopped vehicle at an intersection in Los Feliz. At the time of the collision, which occurred at the intersection of Los Feliz Boulevard and Hobart Boulevard, neither Jolie-Pitt nor the driver of the stopped vehicle showed evidence of driving under the influence, Los Angeles police confirmed.
Jolie-Pitt was not wearing a helmet at the time of his accident and was hospitalized in stable condition, LAPD said last week.
Jolie-Pitt is the second-eldest of Jolie and Pitt’s six children. His siblings are Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh and twins Knox and Vivienne.
The family, according to People, is “deeply grateful for the quick and life-saving action of first responders, and the outstanding medical care [Pax] received.”
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s son Pax is out of the hospital following his scary accident.
The 20-year-old was released from the ICU days after crashing his electric bike in Los Angeles, a source told People on Sunday.
The insider said that Pax — who Jolie, 49, shares with her ex-husband Pitt — “suffered complex trauma” in the crash.
“And now begins the long road of recovery and physical therapy,” the source added.
Jolie rushed to her son’s side after he was hospitalized.
The source said Pax and his mom “are deeply grateful for the quick and life-saving action of first responders, and the outstanding medical care he received.”
Pax’s five siblings have also “been visiting and helping” him since the accident.
“They are all very close,” said the insider.
Pax ended up in the hospital on July 29.
According to TMZ, he was driving his e-bike on Los Feliz Boulevard at 5 p.m. when he slammed into the back of a car that was stopped at a red light.
Pax, who allegedly was not wearing a helmet, injured his hip and his head, witnesses claimed.
Medics reportedly feared Pax suffered a minor brain bleed in the accident, but TMZ reported that he was in stable condition at the hospital.
Pax was adopted by Jolie in 2007 at age 3. He was formally adopted by Pitt, 60, in 2008.
The former couple, who were legally divorced in 2019, also share Maddox, 23, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16.
Pax has a close bond with his mother. He and his brother Maddox worked with Jolie on her directorial feature “Without Blood,” which filmed in Italy in 2022.
“We work well together,” Jolie said to People in August 2022. “When a film crew is at its best, it feels like a big family, so it felt natural.”
On the other hand, Pax and his siblings are estranged from their dad.
He once went on a social media rant against Pitt on Father’s Day 2020.
“Happy Father’s Day to this world class a – – hole!! You time and time again prove yourself to be a terrible and despicable person,” Pax’s caption said, per the Daily Mail. “You have no consideration or empathy toward your 4 youngest children who tremble in fear when in your presence.”
“You have made the lives of those closest to me a constant hell. You may tell yourself and the world whatever you want, but the truth will come to light someday,” the then-16-year-old reportedly continued. “So, Happy Father’s Day, you f – – king awful human being!!!”
Pax’s younger sibling Shiloh recently requested to drop “Pitt” from her last name, but a hearing on the matter was delayed because the court didn’t finish the background check in time, according to Page Six.
