A&W Canada's Burgers to Beat MS Day: 16 Years of Raising Millions for Canadians Living with MS

For the 16th consecutive year, A&W Canada is hosting its annual Burgers to Beat MS Day on Thursday, August 22, 2023. This initiative is dedicated to raising crucial funds to support groundbreaking research and provide essential resources to Canadians impacted by multiple sclerosis (MS). A&W Canada will donate $2 from every Teen Burger sold on August 22nd.

The Impact of Burgers to Beat MS Day

Since its inception in 2008, this remarkable campaign has raised over $20 million for MS Canada. These funds play a vital role in supporting a wide range of programs aimed at improving the lives of Canadians living with MS. The programs are designed to address various aspects of the disease, including treatment, care, and well-being. The money raised also fuels groundbreaking research, with the ultimate goal of halting the progression of the disease, preventing new cases, and developing innovative treatments.

The Growing Challenge of Multiple Sclerosis in Canada

Canada faces a significant burden of MS, with one of the highest rates of the disease worldwide. On average, 12 Canadians are diagnosed with MS every day, leading to a total of over 90,000 Canadians currently living with this neurological disorder. Most individuals are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 49, highlighting the impact MS can have on young adults. The disease affects the central nervous system, specifically the brain and spinal cord, causing a range of symptoms that can fluctuate in severity and duration. This episodic nature of the disease makes it challenging for individuals and their families to manage. While MS can be episodic, it can also be progressive, leading to gradual deterioration in neurological function.

MS Canada: Leading the Way in Support, Advocacy, and Research

MS Canada plays a pivotal role in the fight against MS. The organization is committed to providing support and resources to Canadians impacted by MS. They are also dedicated to advocacy, raising awareness about MS and advocating for policy changes to improve the lives of people with MS. Furthermore, MS Canada spearheads research initiatives that aim to uncover new treatments, prevent the disease, and ultimately find a cure.
