Billy Joel's European Tour: Only Two Shows in 2025, Both in the UK

Billy Joel, the iconic singer-songwriter, has announced two exclusive UK concerts in 2025, marking his only European tour dates for the year. The concerts are set to be a major highlight for fans, as it will be the first time he has performed in either city in over 40 years.

The first concert will take place at Edinburgh’s Scottish Gas Murrayfield on Saturday, June 7, marking his first time playing in the city for 46 years. The second is scheduled for June 21, when Joel will head to Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium to perform his first gig in the city for 45 years.

Music Icon Returns to the UK

Joel’s return to the UK comes after a successful summer residency at Madison Square Garden in New York City. He performed his 150th and final show at the venue in July, bringing out Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose to perform a number of songs.

The New York-based artist’s music has remained timeless, and these concerts are sure to be part of his enduring legacy as one of the most engaging and best-selling live performers of our time. He’s one of the best-selling live performers of our time.

Tickets on Sale Friday, October 4

General Tickets go on sale this Friday, October 4 at 10am BST, and will also be available from www.aegpresents.co.uk. Fans can purchase tickets online at Billy Joel’s website, Ticketmaster and Live Nation.

Joel's Legacy

Joel’s string of 33 Top 40 hits, all of which he wrote himself, began with 1973’s autobiographical ‘Piano Man’, written while Joel was playing in a Los Angeles lounge. The hits have continued for almost five decades, with three of Joel’s Top 40 songs – ‘It’s Still Rock and Roll To Me’, ‘Tell Her About It’ and ‘We Didn’t Start The Fire’ – peaking at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts in the US. Joel has also had 23 Grammy nominations since he signed his first recording contract in 1972, and is famous for further hits including ‘Uptown Girl’ and ‘The Longest Time’.

In January 2014, Joel began Madison Square Garden’s first-ever music franchise performing one show at The Garden each month – Billboard Magazine called it “The Greatest Arena Run in History.” More than 50 years after his The Garden debut, after 10 years of sold-out shows, his final concert marked Joel’s 150th lifetime performance at the venue this past July.

A Legacy of Accolades

The long list of accolades awarded to Joel across his career is testament to the reverence given to him by fans, critics and fellow musicians alike. Joel was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame by his idol Ray Charles in 1999. Joel has received the RIAA’s Diamond Award twice for Greatest Hits Volume I & Volume II and The Stranger, presented for albums that have sold over 10 million copies. He is the recipient of six GRAMMY® Awards, including the prestigious Grammy Legend Award. Joel has been inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame including the prestigious Johnny Mercer Award. He received a TONY AWARD for “Movin’ Out,” a Broadway musical based on Joel’s music.

Anfield and Murrayfield: Venues for Legends

Scottish Gas Murrayfield has hosted over 50 major events per year, ranging from sold-out Scotland international rugby matches to concerts and corporate events. The venue has a proven track record of hosting major events and is sure to provide a memorable experience for Joel’s fans.

Anfield Stadium, the home of Liverpool Football Club, is now a destination of choice for leading acts across the world. This summer alone, the stadium hosted over 250,000 music fans across five nights, including concerts by Taylor Swift and Pink. Joel fits the bill for Anfield. He allows the club to attract another genre of artist that appeals to different demographics, but one who will be tough to see in Europe due to just two dates next year. That means the demand will be there for tickets.

The club is also consulting with residents who live in the vicinity of Anfield Stadium over potentially moving an agreed respite period to mid-July to mid-August. Letters were sent out by the club earlier this month.

A Moment in History

These two shows follow his sold out European Exclusive this summer at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, which saw fans from across the globe descend on the Welsh city. The Telegraph’s 4 star review of the incredible show noted “He’s lasted this long because he is a seriously gifted singer-songwriter, who has become cooler and more revered with age. Quality will out, and this was over two hours of fantastic songs performed with panache and gusto.”

The two concerts mark Joel’s first gigs in the cities in over 40 years, and are bound to be a special occasion for fans of the iconic musician.

These are the only European dates scheduled for Joel in 2025, so fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
