Pep Guardiola's men look to avoid four consecutive defeats as they travel to face the Seagulls.

Manchester City face Brighton on Saturday with Pep Guardiola's team looking to avoid experiencing four defeats in a row for the first time under the Spanish manager.

This is new territory for Pep Guardiola the manager, for whom the fourth defeat in a row for his all-conquering Manchester City was delivered by a Brighton side playing the kind of football under their young manager that the great Catalan once made his own.

A win for City would see them return to the top of the English Premier League, but the visitors will be without stars Jack Grealish, Rúben Dias and John Stones.

The home team, meanwhile, are in the midst of a tough run of fixtures, coming into this game off back-to-back defeats to Liverpool in the EFL Cup and the Premier League. Now may nevertheless be a great time to face the defending champs, and Brighton have the added incentive of knowing that win here will push them into the top four.

Brighton & Hove Albion take on Manchester City on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Amex Stadium, with kickoff set for 5:30 p.m. GMT local time, making it a 12:30 p.m. ET or 9:30 a.m. PT start in the US and Canada and a 4:30 a.m. AEDT kickoff in Australia in the early hours of Sunday morning.

It's fair to say Pep Guardiola has the highest regard for Brighton and the work undertaken by counterpart Fabian Hurzeler as well as his Seagulls predecessors Roberto de Zerbi and Graham Potter.

The City boss again highlighted his admiration for the club and their qualities in his pre-match press conference yesterday.

For his part, the Seagulls’ young German head coach amplified his own admiration for both the job Pep has done and his talented City squad in his pre-match press conference earlier in the week.

Meanwhile Brighton chief executive Paul Barber has also provided his own warm words for City writing in today’s match programme.

“After playing here in April, Pep Guardiola’s side went on to win a fourth consecutive Premier League title,” he writes.

“And despite a recent blip in the champions’ results, we can certainly expect another tough challenge this time out.”

Brighton host Manchester City in the Premier League hoping to put in a similar performance to their outing against Liverpool last weekend.

Although the Seagulls lost that match 2-1 they took the lead against Arne Slot’s side and made the current league leaders work hard for their victory and will hope to replicate that against Pep Guardiola’s reigning champions. Before the Liverpool game Brighton were on a three-match unbeaten run and will hope to capitalise on a weakened City side.

Guardiola’s men defeated Southampton 1-0 at the end of October but have lost their last three games. Tottenham defeated them in the Carabao Cup before Bournemouth won 2-1 in their last Premier League outing and Ruben Amorim’s Sporting CP hammered them 4-1 in the Champions League. Can they end that streak today?

Brighton come from behind to clinch all three points against Manchester City after a superb second half performance. City led 1-0 at the break through Haaland and they should have been further ahead after having a number of chances, but Brighton came out fighting after the restart and dominated the second period with City failing to get up to speed. Brighton went close on a few occasions through Rutter and Joao Pedro, before finally getting their reward on 78 minutes, when Joao Pedro capitalised on some sloppy City defending to score the equaliser from close range. Then just five minutes later, O’Riley popped up on his Premier League debut to score the winning goal and make it 2-1, finishing off a lovely Brighton move. City struggled to get back into it late on and couldn’t find an equaliser to make it four defeats in a row in all competitions. This victory moves Brighton up to fourth in table, just four points behind City, who remain second and could fall five points behind Liverpool at the top if they win later on today. They’ll have time to reset during the international break and will look to get back to winning ways against Tottenham in a fortnight. Meanwhile Brighton will travel to Bournemouth. That’s all from us today folks, we hope you enjoyed the game!

FULL-TIME: BRIGHTON 2-1 MAN CITY

City fell again. This time to a Brighton side that looked ever more dynamic as the game developed and won the game through Joao Pedro and then Matt O’Riley on his Premier League debut for Brighton. Both of them substitutes for manager Fabian Hurzeler and the Brazilian creating the second after scoring the first. Not only that – Joao Pedro gave Kyle Walker much to ponder in the twilight of his career.

This is developing into a rare crisis for the modern City, who have now lost twice in successive away games in the Premier League as well as those on the road in the Carabao Cup and Champions League. The Etihad record remains intact but currently anything feels possible with a defence that looks good on the ball, but vulnerable to the aggression and movement of a team like Brighton.

Guardiola left the pitch in quite a mood. He engaged in one of those expansive post-match conversations with an opposing player, this time the Brighton centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke, who seemed bewildered by whatever point was being advanced.

The Dutchman had been excellent. So too Danny Welbeck, the Brighton captain, and Kaoru Mitoma, the firefly Japanese winger. They had the greater ringcraft than City’s defence. The faith that Guardiola places in the young is admirable, and teenage centre-half Jahmai Simpson-Pusey barely put a foot wrong all evening but in the crunch moments the City players were just not decisive enough. The two goals came in a five-minute period in the second half when City just caved in.

A remarkable night for O’Riley, a London-born Fulham academy graduate and Denmark international who was injured in his debut and underwent surgery this season. Long tracked by Premier League clubs in his time at Celtic, the midfielder showed great composure to take his chance.

City were rattled by the end. There was a booking for Erling Haaland who scored the 75th goal of his Premier League career in just 77 games and could not conceal his frustration.

It’s half-time in the four games that started at 15:00 (UK).

Brentford 1-1 Bournemouth

Crystal Palace 0-1 Fulham

West Ham 0-0 Everton

Wolves 1-0 Southampton

A very good afternoon from a somewhat grey and overcast Amex Stadium as we return to Premier League action with an important trip to Brighton.

We may be on the South coast but there’s definitely a hint of the North in the weather here today with a heavy cloud cover, damp, dank conditions and a definite chill in the air greeting me on my arrival at the ground.

Inclement weather notwithstanding, there’s no doubting it’s another testing but important encounter for Pep Guardiola’s side as we seek to get back to winning ways after what has been a tough past 10 days or so.

As well as been hindered by a succession of injuries to key personnel, City have also slipped to defeat in our last three encounters across three competitions.

It marks a rare blip in form for the champions.

That said it’s worth stressing we will kick-off this evening lying just two points off leaders Liverpool who entertain Aston Villa in the day’s late 8pm kick-off.

So, a positive result here would be the perfect fillip both going into the international break as well as looking ahead to the rest of the campaign.

Pep Guardiola gave a hint as to what to expect from his team selection in yesterday's press conference.

Jack Grealish, Ruben Dias and John Stones - along with long-term absentees Rodrigo and Oscar Bobb - are all unavailable for the weekend trip to the south coast.

However, on a positive note, there were no fresh injuries from our midweek Champions League game.

Kevin De Bruyne played the last few minutes of our 4-1 defeat to Sporting CP, while Jeremy Doku, Savinho and Manuel Akanji – all of whom have had knocks of some sort recently - all  played some part in the game and Kyle Walker was an unused sub.

“[There is] no good news,” said Guardiola.

“We have the same [players available] as we did for Lisbon. The players that travelled, still they are there.”

Two from two for City already this weekend!

Our women got it under way with an emphatic 4-0 win over Spurs at the Etihad last night. Bunny Shaw hit her sixth WSL hat-trick, which is a record in the league's history.

That's been backed up earlier today by our U18s, who won 5-3 in a thriller against early form side Derby County.

Let's make it three from three!

Former City team-mates Andy Morrison and Nicky Weaver are our guests on this afternoon's Matchday Live.

A solid partnership at the back in their playing days at Maine Road - today they'll look ahead to the game and analyse what they have seen at half-time and after the final whistle.

The show is free for all and will start around 16:10 (UK) at the top of this page! There's no need to go elsewhere.

Hello and welcome to live coverage of this afternoon's Premier League clash at Brighton.

It's our final outing before the November international break and, after a downturn in form in recent games, we're looking to sign off with a positive result.

I'll be here all afternoon to provide the build up and then outline the action as it happens.

Let's get going!
