Channing Tatum wants everyone to know that Zoë Kravitz's engagement ring is a real winner. The engaged couple appeared on Complex's GOAT Talk show and traded questions about the "GOAT" things in their opinion — aka the greatest of all time.
One question Tatum had for Kravitz? The "GOAT gift" she's received. When he asked, though, he not-so-subtly tried to coax an answer out of her.
Tatum glances down at Kravitz's engagement ring while she ponders her answer, but she's quick to pick up on the hints he's laying down.
"What was that? That's not a gift. Is it a gift? It's a different thing. The subtle glance down to my ring just now, dude? Was nuts," she says to him while they both laugh at him trying to convince her to tell viewers that the best gift she's ever received is the ring he gave her.
He asks her again what's the best gift she's ever been given, and she sarcastically answers, "Your love and affection." Tatum can't help but answer that he agrees.
Kravitz and Tatum got engaged last year after dating for two years. The two first met while working on Blink Twice in 2021, Kravitz's directorial debut. Tatum told PEOPLE at the Los Angeles premiere of the movie on Aug. 8 that he had nothing but praise for Kravitz's work on the movie.
"To get to create something with someone that you love is probably one of the most gratifying things other than having a kid with somebody I think," Tatum said of what the "best part" about shooting a movie with his other half was.
"It's one of those ... you truly are creating something from nothing and it's just like creating a marriage or creating something where you're like, everything that we are is going into this thing and you want to make it with people that you love," he added.
The 'Blink Twice' Premiere
Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum are showing off two things: love and style. The engaged couple was photographed in London during a photocall for "Blink Twice" photocall on Sunday wearing edgy ensembles that gave off "cool couple" vibes.
Kravitz, known to wear Saint Laurent for several past red carpets, wore a look from the luxury label that included a black, sheer lace-trimmed tank and matching knee-length skirt. She paired the looks with shiny slingback pumps, gold shoes, and small oval-shaped sunglasses. Her makeup was kept minimal, and her hair was pulled back in a sleek, tight chignon bun. Tatum also opted for dark shades — pairing his look with a black blazer, trousers, a white T-shirt, and loafers.
The Premiere's Big Debut
The duo had the opportunity to collaborate for the upcoming film that Kravitz directed and co-wrote with E.T. Feigenbaum. The trailer opens with Tatum, who plays a tech billionaire, Slater King, meeting a cocktail waitress, Frida, played by Naomi Ackie, at a fundraising gala. He invites Frida to join him on a dream vacation on a private island, and things take a turn from there.
"Wild nights blend into sun soaked days and everyone's having a great time," according to a synopsis for the film. "No one wants this trip to end, but as strange things start to happen, Frida begins to question her reality." The synopsis continued, "There is something wrong with this place. She'll have to uncover the truth if she wants to make it out of this party alive."
Originally titled, "P***y Island," the upcoming thriller serves as Kravitz's directorial debut. In 2022, the actress mentioned wanting Tatum to star in the film before she met him. "I felt, even from afar, before I knew him, that he was a feminist and that he wasn't afraid of exploring that darkness, because he knows he's not that," she told WSJ Magazine, referring to Tatum, in an interview. "That's why I was drawn to him and why I wanted to meet with him."
Kravitz and Tatum initially developed a working relationship amid the film, but later ended up in a romantic one. In January, Tatum gushed about his now fiance making her directorial debut in a sweet Instagram post saying, "MISS DIRECTOR LADY HERSELF IN ACTION!! ABSOLUTELY CRUSHING IT. CAN’T WAIT FOR YALL TO SEE."
Their Shared Love for Cinema
Channing Tatum and Zoë Kravitz, the lovebirds in the Hollywood scene, shared their favourite movies with one another in a recent shopping spree at the Criterion Closet. This was before the passing of Gena Rowlands.
While selecting movies for their viewing pleasure, Kravitz grabbed A Woman Under the Influence, a movie directed by her husband John Cassavetes. "We love Cassavetes. And then also, Gena Rowlands’ performance in this is just one of the best things I’ve ever seen. Also, when we watched it recently, the ending was so crazy. It kind of gets funny." Tatum said, “Darkly funny. And then I start thinking about my family and I’m thinking about my mom and dad.”
The couple also picked Harlan County, U.S.A., a movie directed by Barbara Kopple. “I don’t think it’ll be matched. It’s a place and time that will never be captured again,” Tatum said, adding that the cinematography of the movie was incredible. Kravitz pointed out that she and her father often quote the movie.
"Blink Twice" hits theaters on Aug. 23.
