Chelsea Women began their Women's Champions League campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night. However, Real Madrid pulled one back in the 39th minute when a volley from Redondo went through the legs of Musovic. Chelsea’s Lauren James did not have much of an impact on the game, frustratingly for the hosts. Real Madrid then had a golden opportunity to equalize with a double save from Musovic. The second half saw Chelsea continue their dominance with a string of chances, although the game was not all one-sided. The Blues were unable to add a third goal, but held firm to secure all three points.
