The Washington Commanders will kick off the 2024 season with a road matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Here's everything you need to know about how to watch, listen, and live stream the game.

After months of planning, the Washington Commanders will officially begin their 2024 season with a road matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sept. 8 at 4:25 p.m. Here are five keys to them coming away from Raymond James Stadium with a win.

The Washington Commanders vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers game will be played on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 4:25 p.m. ET (1:25 p.m. PT). The game will air on Fox, and stream on FuboTV and the platforms featured below.

Where to Watch the Commanders on TV

The Commanders' Week 1 game will be broadcast on FOX. Kevin Kugler will serve as the play-by-play announcer with Daryl Johnston as an analyst. Laura Okman will be the sideline reporter.

How to Watch the Commanders Without Cable

While many cable packages include Fox, it's easy to watch the game if Fox isn't included in your cable TV subscription, or if you don't have cable at all. Your best options for watching are below. (Streaming options will require an internet provider.)

FuboTV

Live TV streaming service Fubo offers the same top-tier programming you can get from your local cable provider at a fraction of the price. The streamer is a sports fan's dream considering the sheer volume of live sporting events you can watch on it.

Fubo packages include access to NFL games airing on your local CBS affiliate, Fox Sunday NFC games via "NFL on Fox," "Sunday Night Football" on NBC, "Monday Night Football" on ABC and ESPN, and all games aired on NFL Network. There are plenty of channels for NCAA college football fans too, including SEC Network, Big Ten Network and ESPNU.

If you want to give Fubo a try, now's a great time to do so: Fubo is currently offering $30 off your first month of any subscription tier. That means you can watch every NFL and college football game airing on network TV this week starting at just $49.99. Once you subscribe, you can begin watching immediately on your TV, phone, tablet or computer.

Sling TV

If you don't have cable TV that includes Fox, one of the most cost-effective ways to watch today's game, and all the major sporting events happening this fall, is through a subscription to Sling TV. To watch the NFL Network on Sling TV, you'll need a subscription to the Orange tier or the Blue tier. We suggest leveling up your coverage to get more NFL games this fall with the Orange + Blue tier.

That Orange + Blue plan normally costs $60 per month, but the streamer currently offers a half-off promotion for your first month, so you'll pay just $30. It's your best NFL-watching option for the season, which includes ESPN, ABC, NBC and Fox.

The streamer is also currently offering big savings on four months of the Orange + Blue tier plus the Sports Extra plan when you prepay for the Sling TV Season Pass. The Sports Extra plan includes Golf Channel, Big Ten Network among others. Prepay for four months of the Sling TV Season Pass and spend $219, reduced from $300.

Because Sling TV does not carry CBS, Sling subscribers will want to add Paramount+ to their bundle.

Hulu + Live TV

You can watch the NFL, including Fox, with Hulu + Live TV. The bundle features access to 90 channels, including both Fox and FS1. Unlimited DVR storage is also included. Watch every game on every network with Hulu + Live TV, plus catch live NFL preseason games, exclusive live regular season games, popular studio shows (including NFL Total Access and the Emmy-nominated show Good Morning Football) and lots more.

Hulu + Live TV comes bundled with ESPN+ and Disney+ for $77 per month after a three-day free trial.

NFL+

If you want to catch today's game live on your phone, check out NFL+. The premium streaming service, starting at $40 per year (or $7 per month), offers access to NFL Network. And yes, that includes games being broadcast out-of-market. To boost your NFL experience even further, you can upgrade to NFL+ Premium with NFL RedZone and watch up to eight NFL games simultaneously.

Indoor TV Antenna

You can also watch sports airing on network TV with an affordable indoor antenna, which pulls in local over-the-air HDTV channels such as CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, PBS, Univision and more. Here's the kicker: There's no monthly charge.

For anyone living in a partially blocked-off area (those near mountains or first-floor apartments), a digital TV antenna may not pick up a good signal -- or any signal at all. But for many homes, a digital TV antenna provides a seriously inexpensive way to watch sports without paying a cable company. Indoor TV antennas can also provide some much-needed TV backup if a storm knocks out your cable.

This ultra-thin, multi-directional digital antenna with a 65-mile range can receive hundreds of HD TV channels, including ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, Fox, and Univision and can filter out cellular and FM signals. It delivers a high-quality picture in 1080p HDTV, top-tier sound and features a 12-foot digital coax cable.

Commanders vs. Buccaneers Preview

The Washington Commanders are traveling south for the 2024 season opener to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Buccaneers Staff Writer/Reporter collaborated with Commanders.com to break down the matchup between the two NFC opponents.

The Buccaneers are coming off a disappointing 2023 season, and they're looking to bounce back in a big way. The Commanders, on the other hand, are hoping to build on their 2023 playoff appearance. The two teams have a long history of close games, and this one is sure to be a hard-fought battle.

Key Matchups to Watch

Commanders Quarterback Jayden Daniels vs. Buccaneers Defensive Coordinator Todd Bowles: Daniels is one of the most exciting young quarterbacks in the NFL, and he'll be facing a tough test in Bowles' defense. Bowles is known for his aggressive schemes, and he'll be looking to pressure Daniels and force turnovers.

Commanders Running Back Antonio Gibson vs. Buccaneers Run Defense: Gibson is a powerful runner who can break tackles and make big plays. The Buccaneers' run defense is a strength, but it's going to be a tough test for them to slow down Gibson.

Commanders Wide Receiver Terry McLaurin vs. Buccaneers Cornerback Carlton Davis: McLaurin is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, and he's going to be a major target for Daniels. Davis is a tough, physical corner who can match up with McLaurin. It's going to be a battle between two of the best at their positions.

Commanders' Injury Report

The Commanders have released their official injury report for Week 1. Here's a look at the players who are listed as questionable:

  • WR: Terry McLaurin (hamstring)
  • TE: Logan Thomas (calf)
  • LB: Jamin Davis (knee)
  • DT: Jonathan Allen (ankle)

The Commanders will need to be at their best to come away with a win on the road against a tough Buccaneers team. With the first game of the season right around the corner, fans are eager to see how their team will perform.

5 Keys to a Commanders Win

  1. Protect Jayden Daniels: Daniels is a dynamic quarterback, but he can be vulnerable when under pressure. The Commanders' offensive line will need to do a good job of protecting him from the Buccaneers' pass rush.

  2. Establish the Run: The Commanders have a talented backfield in Antonio Gibson and J.D. McKissic. If they can establish the run early, it will open up the passing game and make it more difficult for the Buccaneers to defend.

  3. Win the Turnover Battle: Turnovers can decide games, and the Commanders need to be careful with the football. They can't afford to give the Buccaneers any easy opportunities.

  4. Contain Baker Mayfield: Mayfield is a dangerous quarterback who can make plays both with his arm and his legs. The Commanders need to do a good job of containing him and limiting his big plays.

  5. Play with Confidence: The Commanders need to play with confidence and believe in themselves. If they can do that, they'll be a tough team to beat.

Here's a quick rundown of how to watch, listen, and live stream the Commanders vs. Buccaneers game:

TV: FOX## Radio: 106.7 The Fan (Washington, D.C.) and other local stations## Live Stream: FuboTV, Sling TV, Hulu + Live TV, NFL+, and other streaming services

This game is sure to be a exciting matchup between two NFC opponents. The Commanders will be looking to start the season off strong, while the Buccaneers will be looking to prove they're still a contender in the NFC South. Be sure to tune in on Sunday to see who comes out on top!

The Commanders' New Captaincy System

A new head coach means there will be a new way of doing things, and one of the several changes Dan Quinn has made leading the Washington Commanders roster is how the team handles its captains.

Quinn has decided to rotate captains each week. This allows more players to have leadership roles. He believes this will help build a stronger team culture and create more opportunities for players to showcase their leadership potential.

Quinn's Captain Rotation System

The Commanders will have three captains each week, chosen by Quinn. This system gives Quinn the flexibility to choose captains based on the team's needs for the specific week. This also allows him to recognize the leadership contributions of more players on the roster.

The Benefits of Quinn's System

Quinn's approach to captains will provide a few key advantages to the Commanders. These include:

  • Building a Strong Team Culture: The captain rotation system is a strategy to promote teamwork and a positive team atmosphere. By giving more players the opportunity to lead, Quinn encourages a sense of shared responsibility and ownership among the Commanders.

  • Developing Leaders: Quinn's system allows young players and veterans to gain valuable experience in leadership roles. This provides a chance for potential leaders to learn the ins and outs of the role and develop their skills.

  • Increasing Player Engagement: Quinn's system allows for more players to be involved in the leadership of the team. This could lead to a higher level of player engagement and motivation.

This new captaincy system is one of the many ways Quinn is trying to bring a new energy and a more positive culture to the Washington Commanders. This system is designed to help the Commanders achieve success on and off the field.

The Commanders' Week 1 Performance

The Washington Commanders wrapped up their final practice before their season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The team is ready to take on the Buccaneers in their first regular season game.

While there were things to build on in Week 1, several of Washington's problems from last season lingered. The Commanders' offense struggled to find a rhythm, while the defense gave up too many big plays. The Commanders lost to the Buccaneers 27-14.

This was a tough start to the season for the Commanders. They will need to make adjustments to their game plan if they want to be successful this year.

Conclusion: Washington's Road Ahead

This was not the ideal way for the Commanders to begin their 2024 season, but it's still early in the year. The Commanders have a lot of talent on their roster, and they'll need to use that talent to turn things around.

The Commanders need to focus on improving their offensive efficiency and tightening up their defense. If they can do that, they'll be a tough team to beat. This season promises to be an exciting one for the Washington Commanders, and fans will be hoping for a more successful season ahead.
