Conor McGregor praises Michael Jordan's innovative basketball moves, calling him a game-changer on the court. Discover how the UFC star hyped the NBA legend. Read more.

Michael Jordan is widely regarded as the greatest basketball player of all time. Or at least that is what the consensus used to be until the rise of Lebron James. One of the things that made Jordan the greatest was his ability to even invent moves hitherto unknown in the basketball world. That is precisely what the six-time NBA champion did against the Cavaliers in a 1988 game, where he introduced the world to the ‘behind-the-back dribble.’ And Conor McGregor, being the humble man that he is, posted a video of the Chicago Bulls Guard inventing this move and compared Jordan to himself.

“Unless you’ve hit moves they’ve never seen before you are in no talks. I’ve done it multiple times! Respect to Jordan. BIG GOAT TALK. #FreetheMac,” he wrote.

Did Conor McGregor just crown Michael Jordan as the ultimate GOAT? React!

Reactions

McGregor, of course, is the biggest superstar in the history of the UFC by far. However, as far as being the GOAT is concerned, ‘Mac’, unlike Jordan doesn’t have much of a claim. However, as far as inventing moves is concerned, ‘Mac’ did use the full power of trash-talking and showmanship to promote and elevate not just himself but the entire sport.

However, over the past few years, his career has been on a steep decline. ‘Mac’ has lost all but one of his last four fights, and is coming off a snapped leg that could have even ended his career if not treated properly! But now he is eager, nay desperate to be back in the octagon, but has had his plans frustrated by the big man.

McGregor of course, has been angling for a fight this year. Scheduled to face Michael Chandler on the top of UFC 303 in July, the Irishman had to pull out due to a broken pinky toe. And now it seems he will have to wait another year to make his comeback.

UFC CEO Dana White after all has confirmed that “He (McGregor) won’t fight this year.” However, this claim has been contradicted by Michael Chandler, who has claimed that the UFC CEO may be spreading ‘misinformation’ about the bout, presumably to blindside fans and create a spectacle when he does announce it.

And while when ‘Mac’ will be back is unknown, Joe Rogan has warned that the longer ‘Mac’ doesn’t fight, the more his stock will fall. McGregor seems well aware of this and may be part of the reason he is so desperate to fight this year. What do you think about Conor McGregor wanting to fight this year?
