NBC color commentator Cris Collinsworth just validated NFL fans' claims of him rooting for teams...just not during his own broadcast.

On yesterday's episode of "The Dan Patrick Show," Collinsworth was the guest. To open up the interview, Patrick asked Collinsworth if he roots for a team in previous weeks as they head into "Sunday Night Football," which got a good chuckle out of Collinsworth.

"That's a dirty question right off the bat. The answer is yes," Collinsworth said. "In light, we all kind of cheer for what's best for our company and our product."

While fans want their commentators to enter games having no bias, for this instance Collinsworth is valid. The Atlanta Falcons entered Sep. 16 with a 0-1 record and were the underdogs against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Falcons played at a high level and won the game in dramatic fashion.

"That was really something. That was some comeback. Those two teams running the ball so well up and down the field. Then all of a sudden, Cousins just went crazy," Collinsworth said about the game. "It looked so hard to throw the ball on several occasions throughout the course of that game. He exploded on four or five plays. It was exciting."

Collinsworth added it would have been "boring" if the Falcons entered the Sep. 22 edition of "SNF" 0-2. A win makes their upcoming showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs more interesting.

While Collinsworth made solid points during that segment of the interview, it possibly only fueled the fire of NFL fans' feelings towards the commentator. Collinsworth's "openly" rooting for players or teams has been the bane of fans' existence.

These past few seasons, it's been Collinsworth's "favoritism" towards Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs that have caused a frenzy online.

Fans and peers alike have caught onto Collinsworth's tendencies.

Even though Collinsworth is constantly called out on social media, he has yet to publicly address the "favoritism" he's been accused of. This interview is the closest thing NFL fans will have on Collinsworth admitting to rooting for teams in games he's calling.

It should be a fun experience for NFL fans come Sep. 22. Chiefs-Falcons will be the headliners for "Sunday Night Football" on NBC which will be called by Collinsworth.

The Technical Glitches That Had Fans Going Crazy

If you noticed some weird and glitchy moments during the Sunday Night Football game, don’t be alarmed.

The problem was on NBC’s end, not with your TV, cable provider, WiFi, etc.

On one occasion in the first half, the NBC feed got garbled. It inconveniently happened just as Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes launched a long pass into the end zone (it fell incomplete).

A few minutes later, as analyst Cris Collinsworth used his telestrator to show the Atlanta Falcons pass rush, the screen went dark, except for the bright yellow line Collinsworth marked on the screen.

"OK," a surprised Collinsworth responded.

Minor glitches, to be sure, but we live in an era when even a tiny broadcast hiccup does not go unnoticed. So a few fans voiced their concerns, and several wondered if there might be some conspiracy involved.

The Glitches Did Not Go Unnoticed

While the glitches were relatively minor and didn't impact the overall game experience, they definitely caused some online chatter. Here are some of the reactions from fans:

  • "It’s clearly the NFL colluding with NBC to broadcast pro-Taylor Swift subliminal stimuli." - Micah (@GoesByMicah)

  • "It’s the Falcons accidentally making a good play that went against the script." - HuskerJim (@jimtheplumber63)

  • "Every time this occurs KC ends up with possession. Weird…" - Billy Bob (@BillyBobgb1000)

  • "For those who know…." - NWSL Chris (@lennonfoto)

It seems like even the slightest technical hiccups can lead to a flurry of online commentary, particularly when it comes to a big game like Chiefs-Falcons on Sunday Night Football. It's always interesting to see how fans react to these situations, and it just goes to show that no detail is too small to escape notice in the world of sports broadcasting.
