The Denver Broncos have announced their list of seven inactive players for Sunday's showdown with the Baltimore Ravens in Week 9 of the 2024 NFL season. The Broncos will be looking to improve to 6-3 on the season and their conference record to 3-2. A win today would be big for the Broncos in the AFC because it would also drop the Ravens conference record to 2-4.

The Broncos' inactive players today are quarterback Zach Wilson*, safety P.J. Locke (thumb), cornerback Damarri Mathis, defensive back Kris Abrams-Draine, offensive tackle Frank Crum, tight end Greg Dulcich and outside linebacker Dondrea Tillman.

With Locke inactive, Devon Key is presumably the next man up at safety. JL Skinner and Keidron Smith are also available behind starter Brandon Jones.

Following the return of Alex Palczewski, Crum is a healthy scratch today. Defensive lineman Eyioma Uwazurike is playing today as the team opted to carry an extra defensive lineman.

*Technically, Wilson is still available to play as the team’s emergency third-string quarterback behind starter Bo Nix and primary backup Jarrett Stidham, but he’s on the inactive list and does not count against the game-day roster. Wilson can play if both Nix and Stidham are injured.

With the exception of Wilson, these inactive players are members of the 53-man roster who are not eligible to play against the Ravens. They will be reactivated on Monday.

Who Will Be Impactful in the Absence of P.J. Locke?

The Denver Broncos have released their list of inactives for today’s game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Locke was ruled out of today’s game on Friday after not practicing all week long as he deals with a thumb injury. Abrams-Draine is inactive once again as well due to the Broncos’ overall strength and depth at cornerback, with Levi Wallace, Ja’Quan McMillian, Riley Moss, Tremon Smith, and Patrick Surtain II playing on defense and special teams. Mathis joins Abrams-Draine on the inactive list at the cornerback position as Denver looks to sell out against the Baltimore Ravens run game, led by Derrick Henry.

Why is Eyioma Uwazurike Active for this Game?

Defensive lineman Eyioma Uwazurike is usually inactive but will be active this morning against the Ravens as an extra defensive lineman. Denver used a similar strategy against the Los Angeles Chargers. He’ll be the sixth active defensive lineman behind Zach Allen, John Franklin-Myers, D.J. Jones, Malcolm Roach, and Jordan Jackson.

What Happens with Frank Crum?

With the return of offensive tackle Alex Palczewski from injury, Crum reverts back to being a gameday inactive.

Will the Denver Broncos be able to stop the Ravens' Rushing Attack?

The Ravens feature the league's top-ranked rushing offense, and Defensive Coordinator Vance Joseph said this week the Broncos would prioritize stopping the run. The Ravens are a very difficult team to prepare for in Week 9. The Broncos' defense will need to be at its best to stop the Ravens' rushing attack. The Broncos will be hoping for a strong defensive performance from players like Uwazurike and Roach, who are going to need to step up in this crucial game.

The Broncos kick off their Week 9 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens in just under 90 minutes. Denver’s hoping to improve to 6-3 on the season and their conference record to 3-2.

Can the Broncos Pull Off an Upset?

The Broncos' biggest test of the 2024 season awaits. The Broncos will travel to Baltimore to face the Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 1 p.m. ET. Denver is considered a big underdog in Week 9. It's going to be a tough game for the Broncos, but if they can contain the Ravens’ rushing attack and capitalize on their opportunities, they might just pull off the upset.
