After a successful trip to Brazil and a 34-29 comeback win over the Packers last week, the Eagles return to Philadelphia for their home opener against the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night.
The Eagles offense got off to a rocky start in their first game, where they turned the ball over deep in their own end twice, but the defense only allowed two field goals, which set the stage for the Eagles to right the ship. Running back Saquon Barkley was the star of the show, tying an Eagles record with three touchdowns in his debut with Philadelphia.
Kirk Cousins' debut in Atlanta wasn't quite as well received. The veteran signal caller threw two interceptions in his first game with the Falcons — an 18-10 loss to the Steelers. The Falcons' defense came to play in Week 1, however, keeping the Steelers out of the end zone and allowing just 270 yards of offense.
How to Watch the Game
The Week 2 Atlanta Falcons vs. Philadelphia Eagles game will be played on Monday, September 16, 2024 at 8:15 p.m. ET (5:15 p.m. PT). The "Monday Night Football" game will air on ESPN, and stream on Sling, Fubo and the platforms featured below.
Streaming Options for Falcons vs. Eagles Game
While many cable packages include ESPN, it's easy to watch the game if NFL Network isn't included in your cable TV subscription, or if you don't have cable at all. Your best options for watching are below. (Streaming options will require an internet provider.)
Sling TV
If you don't have cable TV that includes ESPN, one of the most cost-effective ways to watch tonight's game, and all the major sporting events happening this fall, is through a subscription to Sling TV. To watch the NFL Network on Sling TV, you'll need a subscription to the Orange tier or the Blue tier. We suggest leveling up your coverage to get more NFL games this fall with the Orange + Blue tier.
That Orange + Blue plan normally costs $60 per month, but the streamer currently offers a half-off promotion for your first month, so you'll pay just $30. It's your best NFL-watching option for the season, which includes ESPN, ABC, NBC and Fox.
The streamer is also currently offering big savings on four months of the Orange + Blue tier plus the Sports Extra plan when you prepay for the Sling TV Season Pass. The Sports Extra plan includes Golf Channel, Big Ten Network among others. Prepay for four months of the Sling TV Season Pass and spend $219, reduced from $300.
Because Sling TV does not carry CBS, Sling subscribers will want to add Paramount+ to their bundle.
Fubo
Live TV streaming service Fubo offers the same top-tier programming you can get from your local cable provider at a fraction of the price. The streamer is a sports fan's dream considering the sheer volume of live sporting events you can watch on it.
Fubo packages include access to NFL games airing on your local CBS affiliate, Fox Sunday NFC games via "NFL on Fox," "Sunday Night Football" on NBC, "Monday Night Football" on ABC and ESPN, and all games aired on NFL Network. There are plenty of channels for NCAA college football fans too, including SEC Network, Big Ten Network and ESPNU.
If you want to give Fubo a try, now's a great time to do so: Fubo is currently offering $30 off your first month of any subscription tier. That means you can watch every NFL and college football game airing on network TV this week starting at just $49.99 after a seven-day free trial. Once you subscribe, you can begin watching immediately on your TV, phone, tablet or computer.
Hulu + Live TV
You can watch the NFL, including ESPN, with Hulu + Live TV. The bundle features access to 90 channels, including both Fox and FS1. Unlimited DVR storage is also included. Watch every game on every network with Hulu + Live TV, plus catch live NFL preseason games, exclusive live regular season games, popular studio shows (including NFL Total Access and the Emmy-nominated show Good Morning Football) and lots more.
Hulu + Live TV comes bundled with ESPN+ and Disney+ for $77 per month after a three-day free trial.
NFL+
If you want to catch today's game live on your phone, check out NFL+. The premium streaming service, starting at $40 per year (or $7 per month), offers access to NFL Network. And yes, that includes games being broadcast out-of-market. To boost your NFL experience even further, you can upgrade to NFL+ Premium with NFL RedZone and watch up to eight NFL games simultaneously.
Indoor Antenna
You can also watch sports airing on network TV with an affordable indoor antenna, which pulls in local over-the-air HDTV channels such as CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, PBS, Univision and more. Here's the kicker: There's no monthly charge.
For anyone living in a partially blocked-off area (those near mountains or first-floor apartments), a digital TV antenna may not pick up a good signal -- or any signal at all. But for many homes, a digital TV antenna provides a seriously inexpensive way to watch sports without paying a cable company. Indoor TV antennas can also provide some much-needed TV backup if a storm knocks out your cable.
Key Players To Watch in Falcons vs. Eagles
The Eagles and Falcons have some intriguing matchups to watch for in this game, especially on offense. Here are a few players to keep an eye on.
Saquon Barkley
Saquon Barkley had a breakout performance in his Eagles debut last week. He rushed for 112 yards and three touchdowns, the most by an Eagles player in their first game since 1988. If the Eagles want to establish the run and take pressure off Jalen Hurts, they'll need to feed Barkley the ball.
Jalen Hurts
Hurts is coming off a solid performance against the Packers in which he threw for 272 yards and two touchdowns, but also threw two interceptions. However, he'll be without his favorite target in A.J. Brown, who is expected to miss a couple of weeks with a hamstring injury. How Hurts handles the pressure of the Eagles' first home game without Brown will be worth watching.
Kirk Cousins
Cousins is hoping to have a better performance in his second game with the Falcons. In his first game, he threw for 233 yards and two interceptions. He'll need to find a way to connect with his receivers and avoid turnovers if the Falcons want to have a chance to upset the Eagles.
Drake London
London is Cousins' top target and will be crucial for the Falcons' offense. He had a solid first game with 71 yards, and his ability to get open against the Eagles' secondary will be key.
Bijan Robinson
Robinson is a dynamic playmaker and the Falcons' most exciting offensive weapon. He showed flashes of brilliance in his first game, averaging 5 yards per carry. He could have a big impact in the game against the Eagles' run defense.
Tyler Allgeier
The Falcons have a solid running back tandem in Robinson and Allgeier. If Robinson gets the majority of the carries, Allgeier could be a valuable weapon in a change of pace role. He'll need to show the Eagles' defense that he's capable of making big plays.
The Eagles Defense
The Eagles' defense played well in their opening game against the Packers, allowing just 29 points. While their pass rush will be a major factor, the Falcons' run game could create matchup problems. The Eagles' ability to disrupt the Falcons' rushing attack will be key to the outcome of the game.
The Falcons Defense
The Falcons' defense held the Steelers to just 10 points in Week 1, but they were able to do that against a young quarterback in Kenny Pickett. Jalen Hurts is a more experienced and mobile quarterback, so the Falcons' defense will face a tougher test.
Prediction
The Eagles are favored to win this game, but it won't be easy. The Falcons have a lot of talent on offense and a strong defense that could give the Eagles some trouble. If the Eagles can establish the run and protect the ball, they should be able to win. But if they turn the ball over and struggle to run the ball, the Falcons could pull off an upset.
Final Thoughts
The Falcons vs. Eagles game is sure to be a tight matchup, and it's one that no football fan should miss. Be sure to tune in on Monday night and enjoy the game.
