ICYMI astronomers revealed that Earth is getting a “mini moon” at the end of this month and will be orbiting our atmosphere for the next two months. The mini moon isn’t another moon but a rogue asteroid transiting the cosmos and traveling around our planet. Of course, many stargazers and “lunatics” (lovers of the moon) on the internet have declared this as an extraordinary experience that will transcend our lives — it will, but not in the way they think.

Sorry, not sorry. I have a Virgo stellium, so an astrologer like me will weigh the facts about whether or not — and how — the mini moon will impact Earthlings before committing to a POV. I’m here as a professional astrologer to give you the real tea. Let’s investigate if the mini moon will have any impact on your astrological sign.

First and foremost, it’s important to note that the asteroid 2024 PT5 is technically a celestial body orbiting Earth. Unlike the actual moon, The asteroid won’t control the waves of the ocean because its gravitational pull won’t be as strong. Plus, its size is 10 meters, making it tiny compared to the moon. Obvs, PT5 does not hold the same energy, weight, or density as the moon to have a major energetic effect on our planet.

Then, why is this being hyped up as a “mini moon?” Since the asteroid is close to Earth, it got sucked into our orbit. Accidents happen. The last time this occurred was in 2022, and before that, 1981. So, while it is rare, it isn’t out of the realm of the drama in outer space.

Ok, now do you get why I’m skeptical as an astrologer about its impact on Earth? Wait, there is more.

If the moon governs feelings, wouldn’t the “mini-moon” be the reason I’m extra emotional lately? Why am I tired?

We might be feeling the aftershocks and pregame of these lunations since this discovery during the eclipse season (the lunar eclipse was Sept 17, and the solar eclipse will be Oct 2). Eclipses energize the moon, so what we are experiencing is just the post and pre-eclipse hangovers. Our bodies are burnt out and need a rest as a result. It’s time to heal and rejuvenate our energy. If we didn’t know about the “mini-moon,” this is an activity and sentiment we would all be undertaking. Golden rule: Don’t let the asteroid PT5 trip up what you know to be true about eclipses and astrology.

I have a Libra rising, so I am going to play devil’s advocate here — even if it is with myself.

Just so you know, the only trace of astrological flair we can connect with PT5 is that it came from the asteroid belt closest to Earth, which is between Mars and Jupiter. Maybe people want to believe that PT5 is picking up some of those two planets’ energy, but many asteroids in that region do not. If you want to believe it, look for an expensive vibe. However, the likelihood of this one asteroid, which has no historical data and has never been assessed astrologically or astronomically, has the potential to hold up to that claim. I get it! As an astrologer, I want to believe in this, too. The information doesn’t support the claim.

The energy of the asteroid is undefined and unknown. The world is still waiting for the deets and learning as we go. There might not be any negative or positive changes to our lives since it’s more of an astronomical event than astrological. In the true essence of astrology and in the case of someone who believes in freedom of thought, there is no one way to think. I’m taking the side of OG astrologers.

Yes, PT5  is cool to look at and ponder — well, technically, we won’t be able to see it with amateur telescopes — however, we probably won’t notice any astrological repercussions of the “mini moon” on Earth. The reason is that there’s no significant evidence to base anything on. We are making history as we speak, so let’s savor the experience and take down notes to understand the matter more deeply if this occurrence happens again.

Until then, I’m not going to worry or stress about PT5, but if you want to lean into the energy and do something nice for yourself, use the lunar rizz to reflect, contemplate, and heal. Take a meditative bath with Epsom salt rose petals to decompress, or journal your emotions throughout the process to know what emotions the eclipses are triggering.
