Manchester City's Erling Haaland went all humorous when asked about Marc Cucrella and his viral Euro 2024 celebrations against the forward, after his side beat Chelsea 2-0 in the Premier League on August 19. City's Norwegian star-forward ultimately had the final laugh over Cucurella after scoring a goal from right in front of the Chelsea full-back, and silencing the hype that had built up since Euro 2024.
Cucurella caused a huge uproar in the football fraternity with his Euro 2024 celebration with the rest of the Spain squad in Madrid, where he sang a song about Haaland being afraid to face him when they meet each other in the Premier League. This started a lot of anticipation amongst fans about how these two players would fare against each other when their teams face each other. Haaland has gone on to gain the upper hand on this budding rivalry, after he gave City the lead in their Premier League opener against City, right in front of the face of Cucurella.

“Well, Cucurella is a funny man. Last season he asked for my shirtâ€æ and this summer he sings a song about me,” Haaland said after the match.
In his post-match interview, Haaland revealed that Cucurella had asked the player for his shirt, and also an autograph.

“Cucu cucu-rella, he eats paella, Cucu cucu-rella he drinks Estrella, Haaland you’d better tremble because Cucurella is coming!” Cucurella sang during Spain's Euro 2024 celebrations.
There was a period where Chelsea seemed like they were making their way back into the game when Kovacic delivered the killer blow in the 85th minute. The Croatian made a fine run towards the box and unleashed a shot that went past Sanchez in the 85th minute to all but seal the 3 points for City.
Pep Guardiola's side will next face Ipswich Town at home on August 24, Saturday. Chelsea will now have a Europa Conference League Play-off on August 22 before facing Wolves away from home on August 25.
