BAKED beans bosses have got Christmas all wrapped up in a tin. The clever swines at Heinz are knocking out limited edition Beanz Pigs in Blankets for the festive period. The product comes with Christmas seasoning. Heinz say of the pork bangers wrapped in bacon: "Jingle All the Way.

"Need proof that Santa got your wish list? Well here it is! Beanz, pigs in blankets, and Christmas seasoning all in one can.

"No need to wait for the big day. Crack them open for a taste of Christmas on your toast." A 400g tin is £1.50 from Sainsbury's. The same sized can is also available via Heinz's website where they are selling for £2.50 each. A full can contains 426 calories and 18.4 grams of fat.

Food site Snack Reviews drooled: "If you're like most of us, baked beans are a staple for a quick and satisfying lunch or dinner.

“But who would have thought about mixing baked beans with Christmas?

“Well, Heinz has, and they've just launched their new Limited Edition Beanz and Pigs in Blankets with Christmas seasoning.

"It's a festive twist that brings together two much-loved foods: classic Heinz Baked Beanz and the seasonal favourite, pigs in blankets that we spotted in Sainsbury's today.

"The addition of Christmas seasoning to the traditional combo of baked beans and pigs in blankets enhances this simple dish into something surprisingly festive.

“The seasoning gives it that holiday flair, making it an unexpectedly different option for a quick meal on a cold December evening.

“Imagine the comforting taste of Heinz Beanz, with tender, flavourful sausages wrapped in bacon, all mixed with a blend of festive spices.

“It’s a treat that takes a well-loved dish and gives it a festive makeover, making it perfect for getting into the Christmas spirit without much effort." One fan said on social media yesterday: "Get in my belly. Christmas just came early." Another simply wrote: "Yum." While a Aussie fan added: "Send some to Australia please." And someone tagged in their pal and wrote: "Something you would enjoy girl."

Not everyone was convinced though, with one person posting: "They sound awful! Everyone knows the pigs in blankets need to be nice and crispy. Not soggy after being soaked in beans for months."

Heinz has been launching some weird and wonderful products of late — from a Monster Munch Mayo, to Spaghetti Carbonara in a tin which was slammed as an ‘abomination’. And the brand’s latest offering has also caused somewhat of a stir online, as it puts a seasonal twist on the most iconic of all the Heinz goods. Shoppers have spotted tins of Heinz Beanz Pigs In Blankets (with Christmas Seasoning) on supermarket shelves and it’s fair to say the product — which is made with Richmond sausages — has well and truly divided fans.

Naturally some people cannot wait to give it a try, thinking that it sounds ‘lush’, while a few controversially said they’d consider adding it to their Christmas dinner… On Reddit’s r/CasualUK forum the festive tin of baked beans was described as being ‘peak Britishness’. In response to the post, u/fezzuk admitted: ‘Honestly I’m tempted.’ As was u/LoisTano who thought the beans would make a nice addition to their ‘post-Christmas sandwiches’. u/dramallama-IDST posted: ‘Curiosity will get the better of me and I’ll try this at least once regardless of my expectations.’ And u/TemptressAngel08 was in agreement that they ‘looked interesting’. However, not everyone was quite so thrilled by the prospect of trying the seasonal beans. A user known as u/miguelitaraton thought: ‘The “Christmas seasoning” is especially troubling…’  While u/Discopants180 wrote: ‘Heinz were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, that they didn’t stop to think if they should.’ Similarly u/MrLuchador proclaimed: ‘Our science has gone too far.’ And  u/jaimeleblues added that they thought it sounded: ‘Gross. Utterly gross.’  One commenter, u/Exotic-Astronaut6662 responded to say they’d actually already tried the Pigs In Blankets Beanz and gave their verdict.  ‘I bought a tin from Sainsbury’s in the interest of science, tasted ok, not sure what the Christmas seasoning was, possibly a slight taste of stuffing. There were 4 or 5 sausages about 0.0278 fathoms in length.’

It’s not known how long the limited-edition product will be around for, but tins are being sold on the Heinz website for £2.50 for a 400g tin.  The product description reads: ‘Jingle All the Way Need proof that Santa got your wish list? Well here it is! Beanz, pigs in blankets, and Christmas seasoning all in one can. No need to wait for the big day. Crack them open for a taste of Christmas on your toast.’ This comes after Heinz recently launched a very cheeky ‘upside down’ tin of baked beans. Also a limited-edition product, the £1.40 ‘Beanz Means Upside Down’ tin was designed to ensure beans ‘slip out with ease’ on opening.  Featuring new upside-down labels, Heinz is encouraging customers to store their cans ring-pull side down in their cupboards.  A survey of 2,000 people by the company found that 87% of Brits will go to ‘extraordinary lengths’ to make sure every last bean ends up on their plate.
