Now, he will say farewell to the show and has already removed all references to the show from his bio. MailOnline has contacted Channel Four for a comment.

More than twenty members have been dropped following the show being slashed to just three twenty-minute episodes per week from five.

Annie Wallace has been axed from the iconic soap after nine legendary years.

The actress, 59, who played character Sally St. Claire - will reportedly say her goodbyes next week during the show's next 'dramatic' stunt, according to The Sun.

But despite her sad departure, the door is reportedly not closed in definitely.

A source told the publication: 'Annie's loved her time on Hollyoaks but the time for Sally being a full-time character is at an end.

'She will bow out in heroic scenes during the dramatic stunt with the scenes being kept top secret.

'It's not a defined end and the door has been left firmly open for her for a potential return down the line but when the show jumps forward a year, Sally isn't in the village any longer.'

And Annie is not the only star to announce their exit this week.

Sophie Porley, 31, played Ellie Nightingale in the Channel 4 soap but said she is no longer pursuing an acting career after feeling immense pressure to find another role after leaving the show.

She left the show in 2018 after three years but had a traumatic incident after a subsequent audition for something else. She is now a successful influencer.

Speaking told The Muse podcast the now-influencer said: 'I hadn't intended to transition to social media stuff when I came off Hollyoaks. My intention was to continue acting.

'I don't know if I've really spoken about this, but I'm not really acting anymore.

'Because I had a few auditions when I finished Hollyoaks and I think I put so much pressure on myself to go from that to another acting job I felt real pressure.

'My agency sent me an audition and there was pages and pages of dialogue to learn. I went into my agency to record the audition, and I put so much pressure on myself I walked out of their building and had a panic attack.'

'I was in the train station and I literally had to sit on the floor. I couldn't breathe.

'At that moment, I was like, 'I'm really putting too much pressure on myself to get another acting job,' so I took a step back.'

'It's been a few years now, and I've not gone back to it,' she added.

'Sometimes I think I should try to pursue it again, but I found the whole thing really overwhelming.'

Asked if she would ever return to Hollyoaks, she added: 'Never say never, but I don't have any plans to.

'It's not something on my radar.'

Back in 2022 Sophie revealed she quietly split from her soap star beau Adam Woodward 'earlier this year'.

Hinting that the pressures of the coronavirus lockdown may have been involved in the split, Sophie told her followers they 'broke up.. like lots of couples'.

Despite the split, Digital Spy reported Sophie later said she wasn't dating again yet and is instead: 'Very happy to be single right now.'

Sophie and Adam had been dating since October 2018, with them going public with the news on Instagram with a loved-up selfie.

David Joshua-Anthony joined the Channel 4 show in 2023 as Andre Clark, Vicky Clark's estranged brother - but has now quit the soap

David Joshua-Anthony has quit Hollyoaks just one year after joining the Channel 4 soap.

The soap star joined the show in 2023 as Andre Clark, Vicky Clark's estranged brother. Despite being involved in a number of major storylines - such as his runion with his sister and dad - he will now be leaving over the next few weeks.

He has now removed any mention of the soap from his Instagram bio and Hollyoaks bosses confirmed the news of his departure to The Sun. David is the latest of many cast to be leaving the show after producers confirmed a 'cast cull' last year as Channel 4 cut the number of weekly episodes of the soap.

It comes after iconic character Sally St Claire was axed earlier this week, leaving actress Annice Wallace shaken. "When I was told my character was going, I was very shocked," she admitted. "I had a bad weekend. But then I got on with it. I don't want to collapse into sobs. That's not my thing."

Reflecting on her exit and witnessing her last moments on-screen, she shared: "I've watched my final scenes and it was bittersweet. I found it really difficult."

Earlier this year, Kieron Richardson, who plays Ste Hay, and Jorgie Porter, who plays Theresa McQueen defended the show's execs who made the decision to cut down the cast. "From January it was like the start of a new era and it’s really exciting, there’s so much coming up in the future but we can’t say anything," Kieron said. "I think it must be hard as a show writer to think of two and a half hours of TV each week it’s like a full film, whereas now if you shorten that down a little bit you’re going to get the best of the best in terms of quality."

He added that with the reduction in air time, it will be "all killer and no filler", adding that whoever gets to stay will have a "really exciting time" ahead of them.

Meanwhile, Jorgie added: "I say we’re still giving the same drama, effort and energy and stuff so I think we’re safe."

There are 20 characters being written out of the show, with Cindy Cunningham actress Stephanie Waring being one of them. Stephanie has appeared on the show since 1996 and said in May of her exit: "I can’t believe I am writing this and I have taken the last two weeks to process and come to terms with the shock of what I am about to say. I am heartbroken to announce that my character of Cindy has been included in the actors reduction of Hollyoaks.

"As an actress obviously I understand there are no jobs for life but with my 28 years on the show I hoped that Cindy would survive the exciting revamp and continue into its new era, especially as I began playing her in 1996, making me the only original cast member remaining to be included in the cast cull, which I can only describe as gutting."

David Joshua-Anthony has decided to part ways with Hollyoaks just a year after making his debut on the Channel 4 soap. The actor graced the show in 2023 as Andre Clark, Vicky Clark's long-lost brother.

Despite being at the heart of several key plots - including emotional reunions with his sister and father - he is set to make his exit in the coming weeks. David has since scrubbed any reference to the soap from his Instagram bio, and Hollyoaks chiefs have confirmed his exit to The Sun.

David's departure is one among many, following a 'cast cull' announced last year by producers, as Channel 4 reduced the soap's weekly episodes. This news follows the recent departure of the beloved character Sally St Claire, leaving actress Annie Wallace notably unsettled.

"When I was told my character was going, I was very shocked," she confessed. "I had a bad weekend. But then I got on with it. I don't want to collapse into sobs. That's not my thing."

Reflecting on her time on the show and her final scenes, she expressed: "I've watched my final scenes and it was bittersweet. I found it really difficult."

Earlier this year, Kieron Richardson, who portrays Ste Hay, and Jorgie Porter, known as Theresa McQueen on-screen, backed the show's executives' decision to trim the cast. "From January it was like the start of a new era and it's really exciting, there's so much coming up in the future but we can't say anything," Kieron shared.

He further commented that with less air time, viewers can expect "all killer and no filler", hinting at thrilling times ahead for those who remain on the show. Jorgie chimed in, reassuring fans: "I say we're still giving the same drama, effort and energy and stuff so I think we're safe."

The soap will see 20 characters exit, including Cindy Cunningham, played by Stephanie Waring since 1996. In May, Stephanie expressed her feelings about leaving: "I can't believe I am writing this and I have taken the last two weeks to process and come to terms with the shock of what I am about to say.
