Home and Away's Tane Parata is set to turn back to Harper Matheson during a dispute with John Palmer. Last month, Tane spent the night with Harper at the gym on the eve of his sentencing in the baby kidnapping case. After spending time in the city to take part in a training course, Tane returned to the Bay and began making plans to set up his own programme at the gym – an idea that John later rejected. To make matters worse, Harper soon backed out of the project after struggling with her feelings for Tane.

In upcoming scenes, John remains opposed to Tane's youth programme proposal, which would help troubled teenagers turn their lives around. A wary John insists that he doesn't want the Surf Club overrun by juvenile delinquents. Alf sides with Tane, who has always run a tight ship. John then counters that Tane nearly faced prison time for kidnapping a few weeks ago. When John then overhears Tane counselling a troubled Mali, he softens and tells Alf that Tane is ready to step up at the Surf Club.

Unfortunately, John's change of heart could have come too late, as the Surf Club committee have been spooked by John's previous email about teens causing havoc at the club. Can John convince the committee to change their mind?

Later, Alf sits down with Tane to reveal his action plan, but they need to get Harper on board. Tane is reluctant after he recently agreed to give Harper space from their friendship. Tane ultimately decides to break this commitment when he asks her to meet with Alf. He also asks that she exaggerate her involvement in the youth club as a social worker during the conversation. Harper feels bad about being dishonest, but the meeting is a success and the programme is back on track. Tane then promises he'll find a way to get Harper out of her commitment.

Will Harper get enough space to get over Tane?

Harper Matheson (played by Jessica Redmayne) is still secretly feeling crushed that Tane Parata (Ethan Browne) only wants to be just good friends on Home and Away (1:45pm - see our TV Guide for listings). Social worker Harper had been hoping that something more might develop between her and Tane after their recent steamy hook-up at the gym! However, gym boss Tane's mind is very much on his proposal for running a youth program at the Surf Club.

But he's yet to convince Surf Club manager John Palmer (Shane Withington), who is not keen on the idea of a load of troublesome teenagers hanging out there. Tane could really use Harper's help in convincing  John. Trouble is, she's totally distracted by her feelings for Tane. It's all too much and Harper suddenly decides that she needs some space from Tane...

Tane can't understand why Harper wants to withdraw from the youth program, but she quickly lets him in on the core of her issue – they slept together, and he's acting like it meant nothing. Tane expresses confusion, reminding Harper that she made it clear she didn't have feelings for him. Regardless, it's clear now her feelings have changed. Later, Harper bemoans the loss of her friendship to Irene – she admits that she should never have let it get so complicated.

The next day, Harper and Tane have an honest chat and she asks for space while she deals with her feelings, but her parting advice is to not give up on the proposal – he must fight for it. Tane does just that when he confronts John later. He warns that he'll bypass John and go straight to the committee himself if he has to. He's going to make this happen with or without John's support.

Meanwhile, following their recent tension, and now fearing for their friendship, Irene issues a genuine apology to Leah. She accepts, and they hug it out – she promises that they'll find a way forward.

They're together when they receive the results of the health and safety report associated with their insurance claim, and it's not good news – they're at fault. This means they're liable to pay the full costs if the lawsuits aimed against them are successful.

Elsewhere, Kirby's fed up with Eden and Remi's lax attitude to employment – she's working herself to the bone while they sit around doing nothing. They protest, but she doubles down – her savings are drying up, so it's time to get jobs.

At that moment, the power goes out and Kirby demands to know who didn't pay the bill. Remi's the culprit, but Eden is beginning to see the value in Kirby's point, and she asks Felicity if the job at Salt is still going. Felicity's happy to have her, but what about Mac?

Eden swallows her pride – conceding that it's not her fault she fell in love with the wrong guy. Could she be starting to thaw towards Mackenzie after all?
