Inter are gearing up to face Lecce in a highly anticipated Matchday 2 showdown of the 2024/2025 Serie A season. As fans eagerly await the action, we’ve got you covered with all the details on how to catch the game live, whether on TV or through online streaming, in your country.
It was a disappointing start for both Inter Milan and Lecce in their Serie A debuts. Inter, the defending champions, were held to a 2-2 draw by Genoa in a match that felt like a loss after Genoa equalized in stoppage time. Despite Inter’s efforts to take control with goals from Marcus Thuram, the late equalizer left them with a sense of missed opportunity.
Looking ahead, Inter will aim to bounce back in their first home game of the season, seeking to recover from the draw. Lecce, on the other hand, had a rough opening, suffering a 4-0 defeat to Atalanta. They face a tough challenge against one of Serie A’s top teams but are determined to make a strong comeback and secure a positive result.
Inter's Argentine striker, Lautaro Martinez, suffered from an adductor problem and is in doubt for this Saturday's match against Lecce. According to club sources, the Argentina international did not participate in training and Simone Inzaghi will wait until the last moment to make a decision. Medhi Taremi could replace him as Marcus Thuram's partner.
Possible starting XI for Inter Milan:
Possible starting eleven for Lecce:
Inzaghi has made two changes to the team that drew with Genoa in their first Serie A match of the season.
Firstly, there is a change in defense. Thus, Benjamin Pavard joins Francesco Acerbi and Alessandro Bastoni in the back three.
Therefore, German Yann Bisseck drops out of the starting eleven.
Meanwhile, Yann Sommer keeps his place in goal.
Then, on the flanks it is the same Italian international pair of Federico Dimarco and Matteo Darmian that started against Genoa.
There had been reports that Denzel Dumfries could start – however, the Dutchman is on the bench again.
Next up, in midfielder it is the same trio that started against Genoa.
Therefore, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Hakan Calhanoglu, and Nicolo Barella all keep there places.
Accordingly, it is another start on the bench for Davide Frattesi.
Meanwhile, midfielder Piotr Zielinski is fit enough to be part of his first ever Serie A matchday squad as an Inter player after his summer move from Napoli. He is a substitute.
Lastly, in attack there is the second big change from the match against Genoa.
Iranian international striker Mehdi Taremi makes his first ever Serie A start.
Taremi had come off the bench against Genoa – but this time he plays from the start.
The change is an enforced one for Inter coach Inzaghi. Captain Lautaro Martinez is absent due to a muscle problem, so therefore Taremi takes the Argentine’s place.
The 32-year-old partners French international Marcus Thuram up front for the Nerazzurri.
Meanwhile, defender Stefan de Vrij is still absent through a thigh injury.
And Canadian international Tajon Buchanan is on the sidelines due to a broken leg that will cause him to be out for the foreseeable future.

Inter Milan news in English 24/7 from SempreInter.com, the world's biggest newssite covering the Nerazzurri. Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez is out for the Nerazzurri’s Serie A home opener against Lecce with a muscle problem.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the Argentine should be back next weekend against Atalanta.
Inter captain Martinez started in last weekend’s Serie A opening day match away to Genoa.
It had not necessarily initially been expected that Martinez would start that match.
The 27-year-old was the last player in Inter’s squad to return to training over the summer.
This was because Martinez had been in action at the Copa America right to the bitter end. The Inter captain won the competition with Argentina, scoring in the final against Argentina.
Therefore, Martinez was only back in training at the start of August.
Meanwhile, Iranian international Mehdi Taremi was part of Inter’s preseason training camp right from the start. And the 32-year-old enjoyed a positive preseason in the first few friendlies.
Taremi had initially looked to be the starter for the match against Genoa. However, he picked up a muscle problem that disrupted his progress.
With Taremi not in condition to start last weekend, Martinez actually cut his post-Copa America vacation short by a couple of days.
This allowed the Argentine to have a couple extra days of preparation for the match against Genoa.
Martinez was able to start that match. However, truthfully, it was a fairly anonymous performance by Inter’s captain, who clearly showed signs of a lack of sharpness.
And now, Martinez has picked up some muscle fatigue as he’s worked to regain his best condition.
The problem is not a major one for the Nerazzurri captain. But it is enough that coach Simone Inzaghi has no intention of risking Martinez this evening.
Inter take on Lecce in their first match at the San Siro of the Serie A season, and their second overall.
Martinez will not be part of the squad for this evening’s match. Rather, Taremi will start in attack alongside Marcus Thuram.
However, reports the Gazzetta, a return for Martinez is not far away.
The newspaper anticipates that the 27-year-old should be back in training within a couple of days.
Therefore, there is little doubt that Martinez will be ready to be part of the squad for Friday’s match against Atalanta.
