Ipswich Town are off and running back in the Premier League, as they earned their first point of the season with a 1-1 draw against Fulham at Portman Road.

Liam Delap smashed home a beauty to put the Tractor Boys ahead but Adama Traore equalized in the first half and Fulham had plenty of chances to win it in the second half.

Ipswich now have one point on the board from their first three games of the season, while Fulham have four points.

A Tight First Half with Plenty of Action

Fulham had plenty of the ball but it was Ipswich who looked more dangerous throughout. Kieran McKenna’s side showcased they can sit back, defend and be dangerous on the counter and they’ll need to do that to stay up this season. There was a directness and aggressiveness about Ipswich whenever they sniffed a chance to counter and they will be involved in plenty of games similar to this one against Fulham. This performance gives Ipswich a blueprint for how they can consistently pick up points this season and they have the players to do it. Hutchinson and Delap were a handful and perfectly suited to this plan.

Key Moments from the Match

Via our friends at FotMob.com you can see that Delap and Davis were at the heart of everything for Ipswich, while Fulham’s Robinson and Traore were equally as dangerous down their left.

Delap Opens the Scoring

After a surging run, Liam Delap scores a beauty as he strikes across goal from distance to send Portman Road wild. Ipswich lead early!

Traore Levels the Game

That is a fine Fulham goal. Smith Rowe and Iwobi were involved and Robinson is found down the left as the USMNT left back whips in a lovely cross that Adama Traore finishes with one touch. Level in Suffolk.

A Second-Half Full of Chances

The Ipswich attacker turns Robinson and his low shot is saved by Leno. Portman Road is rocking late on.

This time it is substitute Raul Jimenez, as he cuts inside but is denied by Muric late on.

Traore stands up a cross and Iwobi sets up Smith Rowe but his shot is blocked. They have had so much of the possession but can’t make it count.

Delap’s low shot across goal take a slight deflection and almost squirms in. Ipswich look like the team who are going to get the next goal.

What's Next for Ipswich and Fulham

Ipswich head to Brighton on Saturday, September 14. Fulham host West Ham on the same day.

Looking Ahead

Ipswich will sense this is their opportunity to show the world what they can do in possession, and Fulham will be happily waiting to do what they do best: launch counter-attacks through Smith Rowe, Iwobi and Adama Traore. Ipswich 1-3 Fulham.
