Jack Flaherty Traded to Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers have made a major move ahead of the MLB trade deadline, acquiring one of the top starting pitchers available in Jack Flaherty from the Detroit Tigers.
Flaherty, 27, is a two-time All-Star and has been one of the most consistent pitchers in baseball over the past few seasons. He has a career ERA of 3.38 and a WHIP of 1.15.
The Dodgers gave up their third-best prospect, Thayron Liranzo, and shortstop Trey Sweeney in exchange for Flaherty. Liranzo is a 21-year-old catcher who is considered one of the best prospects in the Dodgers' system.
Kevin Kiermaier Traded to Dodgers
In another move, the Dodgers have also acquired outfielder Kevin Kiermaier from the Toronto Blue Jays. Kiermaier, 33, is a three-time Gold Glove winner and is considered one of the best defensive outfielders in the game. He is also a solid hitter, with a career batting average of .273.
The Dodgers gave up Ryan Yarbrough in exchange for Kiermaier. Yarbrough is a 30-year-old left-handed pitcher who has been a solid starter for the Rays in recent seasons. However, he is a free agent at the end of the season, so the Dodgers are essentially getting a rental player in Kiermaier.
Dodgers Now World Series Contenders
With the additions of Flaherty and Kiermaier, the Dodgers are now one of the favorites to win the World Series. They already have one of the best offenses in baseball, led by Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and Will Smith. Now, they have added two key pieces to their pitching staff and outfield defense.
The Dodgers are now the team to beat in the National League. They have a deep and talented roster, and they are playing with a lot of confidence. It will be interesting to see if they can finally win their first World Series since 2020.
