Jake Paul is still waiting to find the 'right opponent' for his long-awaited PFL MMA debut.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer joined MMA's fastest-growing promotion in January and was expected to make his first appearance at the back end of 2023.

There were initial talks for Paul and Nate Diaz to run it back in MMA after 'The Problem Child' defeated the UFC icon in boxing.

But the contest never came to fruition.

Since then, Paul has landed a massive fight with Mike Tyson on November 15 and has set ambitious goals to become a boxing world champion, leaving MMA on the back burner.

However, that doesn't mean Paul isn't thinking about potential fights.

During a media scrum at the PFL 9 in Washington DC, that talkSPORT.com attended, Paul said: "It's just about finding the right name.

"We have the money, we're ready to go. We're ready to make offers to people.

"It's just like they have to be able to draw sales and it has to be a fight where it's like this is my first MMA fight.

"So I think I could beat Nate Diaz in my first MMA fight. It would be tough of course, 50/50 fight.

"But I don't wanna go into something where I'm gonna be outclassed, like fighting Khabib in my first MMA fight."

Paul then expanded on his MMA hitlist.

"Nate Diaz, Masvidal, I would face in MMA and then I don't even know like who else is out there that would that would make sense really," he continued.

"Tyron [Woodley] would be interesting for sure. I think that could be like a good backup plan. That would go crazy."

Paul beat former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley twice in boxing, while Jorge Masvidal has been embroiled in a bitter feud with the YouTuber for quite some time.

Another familiar face mentioned in the discussion of potential MMA opponents is the only man to have handed Paul a defeat in his 10-1 professional boxing career, Tommy Fury.

PFL was reportedly willing to put up £15.7m to stage a two-fight fight deal in boxing and MMA between the pair, although they have yet to hear back from 'TNT'.

"I think that's actually still a discussion," Paul added. "So that could be interesting for sure. Me versus Tommy in MMA."

A Paul vs Fury MMA fight seems like a bizarre choice considering the former Love Island star has never shown any interest in transitioning to the sport.

However, stranger things have happened in MMA.

Despite this, Paul is open to the idea of fighting in MMA and has already named four potential opponents for his first fight in the cage.

The list includes some familiar faces from the boxing world, including Nate Diaz and Tommy Fury, as well as two UFC veterans, Jorge Masvidal and Tyron Woodley.

Paul's interest in MMA is a sign of the growing crossover between the two sports, as more and more boxers are looking to test themselves in the cage.
