Jay Slater's father has taken to TikTok to share his experiences during the search for his son, who tragically died in Tenerife two months ago. Warren Slater launched the account to address the wave of conspiracy theories that have been circulating online about Jay's disappearance and death. He has been sharing videos and photos from the family's time in Tenerife, including a video of himself at the place Jay stayed and tracking the hill Jay headed towards.

The 19-year-old from Oswaldtwistle, near Manchester, went missing on June 17 while on a 10-mile trek from a party to his Airbnb. His body was found on July 16 in a treacherous ravine on the island. A post-mortem revealed he died of head injuries consistent with a fall from height.

In launching the account, Warren urged conspiracy theorists to 'allow Jay to rest in peace' before sharing clips from the family's hunt around the Spanish island. His original post on August 15 asked that people 'stop talking about Jay online' and 'adding to the conspiracy theories surrounding his death'. 'Please respect our wishes and allow Jay to rest in peace,' he added.

One of the main points of contention surrounding Jay's disappearance was a set of keys found by Warren during the search. These keys were initially thought to be Jay's 'lost apartment key,' but Warren later confirmed that they belonged to TikToker Down the Rapids, who was also investigating the case. This revelation has fuelled speculation that Jay was not actually lost, but had chosen to stay at a friend's place after losing his keys.

However, Warren has insisted that he has not been back to Tenerife since the search for his son and that the videos he has been posting are just documentation of what he was up to while he was searching. 'The videos that I've been posting are just documentation of what I was up to, where I was searching, things I was looking at while I while I was out there and that's it,' he explained.

Despite the tragedy, Jay's parents have requested that he be allowed to rest in peace without further speculation. Debbie Duncan, Jay's mother, has also slammed internet trolls who came up with wild conspiracy theories, including that Jay had stolen a Rolex watch from a gangster in Tenerife before he disappeared.

The family's plea for privacy highlights the need for sensitivity when dealing with the tragic loss of a loved one. Social media platforms, while a valuable tool for connecting people, can also be a breeding ground for misinformation and harmful speculation. It is crucial to remember that behind every online post is a real person who is grieving and deserves our respect.

The Missing Keys

The mystery surrounding the missing keys has been a central focus of the conspiracy theories surrounding Jay's disappearance. Some have speculated that Jay was not actually lost, but had chosen to stay at a friend's place after losing his keys. Others have suggested that the keys were planted as part of a cover-up.

Warren's confirmation that the keys belonged to TikToker Down the Rapids has added fuel to the fire, with many online sleuths questioning the authenticity of his account.

However, it is important to note that Warren has repeatedly stated that he has not been back to Tenerife since the search for his son. It is possible that the keys were simply overlooked during the initial search, or that they were misplaced by Down the Rapids.

Regardless of the truth, the missing keys have become a symbol of the uncertainty surrounding Jay's disappearance and the ongoing speculation surrounding his death.

Finding Closure

Warren's decision to use TikTok to share his experience is a testament to the power of social media in connecting people and providing a platform for grieving. The account has given Warren a way to communicate with those who were affected by Jay's disappearance and to address the rumors and speculation that have been circulating online.

It is hoped that the account will help to bring some closure to the family and to allow Jay to rest in peace. The family's grief is a reminder of the human cost of online speculation and the need for sensitivity when dealing with tragic events. It is crucial to remember that behind every online post is a real person who is grieving and deserves our respect.
