Jetstar Asia (3K) has announced a new nonstop service between Singapore and Colombo, Sri Lanka, starting November 21, 2024. This move positions Jetstar Asia as the sole low-cost carrier offering direct flights on this route.
The Singapore-based airline plans to operate five weekly round-trip flights using its Airbus A320 fleet. This new service will provide over 90,000 affordable seats annually between the two cities.
The flight schedule includes morning and evening departures from Singapore's Changi Airport (SIN). This arrangement offers flexibility for passengers beginning their journey in Singapore.
The route facilitates convenient connections for travelers flying via Singapore on Jetstar Airways' (JQ) daily service from Melbourne or up to six weekly flights from Perth. This expansion demonstrates 3K's commitment to enhancing regional connectivity while providing budget-friendly travel options.
The new route is likely to boost tourism and business travel between Singapore and Sri Lanka, as well as improve access to more expansive Southeast Asian and Australian destinations through JQ's network.
Jetstar Asia CEO John Simeone said Colombo was the gateway to Sri Lanka and the perfect destination for those looking for adventure, a romantic getaway or family holiday.
Mr. Simeone said, “With our incredible low fares, we’re excited to enable more people to experience this wonderful country with its stunning beaches, delicious food and fascinating history and culture.
“Today’s announcement demonstrates our ongoing commitment to introducing exciting new destinations and I want to thank Changi Airport Group, Sri Lanka Tourism, Airport and Aviation Services Sri Lanka and Hayleys for their ongoing support.”
