Limerick Soprano Releases Heartfelt Song for All Souls' Day
Limerick soprano and classical crossover artist Eve Stafford will release her new single, The Room Next Door, on All Souls’ Day, Saturday November 2. The poignant ballad, written by Eurovision-winning songwriter Brendan Graham and set to music by Denis Carey, reflects on the comforting notion of deceased loved ones waiting nearby in “the room next door.”
Eve, a well-known local requiem mass soloist, was chosen by Carey for the song, which deeply resonated with her, reminding her of her late sister, Jane. Having worked with her family’s funeral business for over a decade, Eve understands the power of music in times of grief.
Eve says, “When I first listened to the demo of the song, the tears began to fall and I was overcome with emotion,” she shared. “It resonated with me profoundly, as I, like many, have experienced grief. I often find solace in signs that appear to me like feathers, robins and rainbows. I believe that things happen for a reason, and I felt that I was meant to sing this song in loving memory of my big sister Jane, whom we lost over a decade ago. I couldn’t believe the timing as I was in the midst of planning my first album, and I was thrilled that this song found its way to me.”
