A Tense Situation
The mayor of the nearby community of Neguac told Radio-Canada that he's worried about the situation.
“We have someone walking around with a weapon, possibly,” Georges Savoie said. “It's not very reassuring. We don't know where he's going to reappear.”
As a precautionary measure, Horizon Health Network said on social media at 7 p.m. that access to the Miramichi Regional Hospital is “restricted” because of the ongoing police operation. “The emergency department will remain open, but social visitation is not encouraged at this time,” Horizon stated. “There will be an enhanced police and security presence on site. We will advise when access has returned to normal.”
This incident has left the community on edge, and residents are urged to be vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement.
