It’s always nice to play video games for free, especially when they’re critically acclaimed such as these Nintendo Switch offerings that you can download and play today. Right now and ending on 25 August 2024, you can download and play Tetris Effect: Connected, PowerWash Simulator, Enter the Gungeon and Cassette Beasts for free. There is one catch, however, and that’s being an active subscriber to Nintendo Switch Online. Honestly, this selection of four games is fantastic and each offers plenty of fun in their own right. For me, the pick of the bunch is Tetris Effect: Connected, a modern take on the 80s classic puzzler made famous on the Nintendo Game Boy, but the other three games are not to be sniffed at. Enter the Gungeon is a high-octane dungeon crawler and Cassette Beasts is one for classic Pokémon fans. That being said, if you’ve never played it, PowerWash Simulator might surprise you with how quickly its gameplay will get you hooked. PowerWash Simulator is pretty much the game you’d expect it to be and while it might not initially seem all that appealing, before you’ve realised, an hour or more has quickly passed as you become obsessed with making sure to clean every last spot of a house, driveway or car. What’s more, each of the four games offered in Nintendo’s ‘Mega Game Trials’ promotion will be the full experience and if you decide to make a purchase, your save data will be carried over. Better still, each game is currently discounted between 30% and 70% with Enter the Gungeon being the cheapest at just £3.29. Even if you decide not to purchase any of the four games included in the ‘Mega Game Trials’ promotion, it’s still worth checking out some great titles for free. Earlier this month Nintendo kicked off its Mega Multiplayer Festival, and now we’re up to part three – the Game Trials. From now until August 25th, the following multiplayer focused Switch games will be entirely free to play for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. They’re also discounted as well – which is nice.

✚ Tetris Effect: Connected – $30.00 (Usually $60.00)✚ PowerWash Simulator – $21.66 (Usually $30.95, all time low) ✚ Enter the Gungeon – $5.25 (Usually $17.50)✚ Cassette Beasts – $17.99 (Usually $29.99, all time low)

The game trials all last until August 25th, the games are on sale for longer until September 8th. After this the final part of the multiplayer festival begins, the Mega Multiplayer Sale. We’re used to seeing Nintendo add a full free game to the Switch Online service for members, but Nintendo Europe is doing things considerably different this time around. Instead of just a single title, Nintendo Europe is giving Switch Online members 4 titles to enjoy. Nintendo Europe has announced that Switch Online members can currently participate in the Mega Game Trials, which offers four full games to play in their entirety. The four-game lineup is as follows:

  • Tetris Effect: Connected
  • PowerWash Simulator
  • Enter the Gungeon
  • Cassette Beasts

These four titles are available to play for Switch Online members in Europe starting today, and they can be played start to finish until Aug. 25th, 2024. After that the games will have to be purchased, but save data will remain no matter what. Nintendo has lifted the lid on the four games which will be part of the recently announced Mega Game Trials promotion for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. PowerWash Simulator, Enter the Gungeon, Tetris Effect: Connected and Cassette Beasts, are the four games you will be able to download. Nintendo Switch Online subscribers will be able to play these games free of charge from today until 25th August. Nintendo of Europe have started a new Mega Game Trials promotion for Nintendo Switch Online, with four games being available from August 19 until August 25. Tetris Effect: Connected, Cassette Beasts, PowerWash Simulator, and Enter the Gungeon are the games on offer. Get an overview of each below: ## Tetris Effect: Connected Tetris® Effect: Connected is Tetris like you’ve never seen it, or heard it, or felt it before—an incredibly addictive, unique, and breathtakingly gorgeous reinvention of one of the most popular puzzle games of all time, from the people who brought you the award-winning Rez Infinite and legendary puzzle game Lumines. Music, backgrounds, sounds, special effects—everything, down to the Tetriminos themselves—pulse, dance, shimmer, and explode in perfect sync with how you’re playing, making any of the game’s 30+ stages and 10+ modes something you’ll want to experience over and over again. Plus cross-platform multiplayer modes for competitive and cooperative play! ### What’s great about Tetris Effect: Connected? An exhilarating single-player experience full of surprises. • Over 30 different stages, each with its own music, sound effects, graphical style and background that all evolve and change as you play through them. The Zone is an all-new mechanic designed just for Tetris Effect: Connected! • Includes the all-new “Zone” mechanic, where players can stop time (and Tetriminos falling) by entering “the Zone” and either get out of a sticky situation that could otherwise lead to “Game Over,” or rack up extra Line Clears for bonus rewards. Cross-platform multiplayer lets you play with players from all over the world! • Players on different platforms can easily join Friend Match rooms with the new Room ID feature. A wide variety of competitive and co-op modes! • Among the new modes is “CONNECTED,” where three players can team up and literally connect their Tetris Matrices to fight against A.I.-controlled Bosses; “Zone Battle,” a one-on-one match of standard competitive Tetris, but with a twist: the time-stopping Zone mechanic; and “Score Attack” and “Classic Score Attack,” two single-player versus modes where two players compete separately to see who can get the best score. Join in on the fun in Spectator mode! • Spectator mode is available in Friend Matches. A room can contain up to 8 total people. Spectators can use emotes during the match to liven up the competition. ## Cassette Beasts Welcome to New Wirral, a remote island inhabited by strange creatures you’ve only dreamed of, nightmares you hopefully haven’t, and a cast of brave folks who use cassette tapes to transform for battle. To find a way home you’ll need to explore every inch of the island, and record monsters to your trusty cassette tapes to gain their abilities! Transform into monsters using… retro cassette tapes? Faced with the constant threat of monster attacks, the residents of Harbourtown, New Wirral choose to fight fire with fire. Record a monster to tape, then play it back to take on its form for battle! Fuse monster forms. Getting close to your companion has benefits–while transformed you can combine your strengths to gain the upper hand in battle! Any two monster forms can be fused to produce unique, fully-animated new fusion forms. Explore a rich open world. Certain monster abilities can be used in human form. You’ll need these to help you get around, solve puzzles, and locate dungeons. Glide, fly, swim, climb, dash, go invisible, or turn magnetic! Travel alongside a diverse cast of human companions. Never fight alone! Form bonds, spend time together, and help your selected partner complete personal goals to become a better team. Master a deep battle system. Take advantage of elemental chemistry to apply extra buffs or debuffs alongside your attack, or even alter your opponent’s elemental type! ### What’s great about Cassette Beasts? Play with Friends! Team up in online multiplayer to trade Beasts, Challenge your friend to 1v1 duals, or take on a fearsome raid Beast with up to 8 friends to reap great rewards! ## Enter the Gungeon Enter the Gungeon is a bullet hell dungeon crawler following a band of misfits seeking to shoot, loot, dodge roll and table-flip their way to personal absolution by reaching the legendary Gungeon’s ultimate treasure: the gun that can kill the past. Select a hero, or team up in co-op, and battle your way to the bottom of the Gungeon by surviving a challenging and evolving series of floors filled with the dangerously adorable Gundead and fearsome Gungeon bosses armed to the teeth. Gather precious loot, discover hidden secrets, and chat with opportunistic merchants and shopkeepers to purchase powerful items to gain an edge. ### What’s great about Enter the Gungeon? The Gungeon Enter the Gungeon – a constantly evolving bullet hell fortress that elegantly blends meticulously hand-designed rooms within a procedurally-generated labyrinth bent on destroying all that enter its walls. But beware – the Gungeon responds to even the most modest victory against its sentries and traps by raising the stakes and the challenges found within! The Cult of the Gundead The Gungeon isn’t just traps and chasms – calm your nerves and steady your aim as you face down the gun-totting Cult of the Gundead. These disciples of the gun will stop at nothing to put down the heroes in their tracks and employ any tactics necessary to defend their temple. The Gungeoneers Choose between one of several unlikely heroes, each burdened by a deep regret and in search of a way to change their past, no matter the cost. Filled with equal parts courage and desperation, these adventurers won’t hesitate to dive across flaming walls, roll through a wall of bullets, or take cover behind whatever is around to make it to their goal alive! The Guns Discover and unlock scores of uniquely fantastic guns to annihilate all that oppose you in the Gungeon – each carrying their own unique tactics and ammunition. Unleash everything from the tried and true medley of missiles, lasers, and cannonballs to the bizarrely effective volley of rainbows, fish, foam darts, and bees! We also have a trailer for the promotion: [Insert Trailer Link Here] For the moment the promotion is exclusive to European regions, and it is currently unknown if it will come to North America. We’ll keep you updated. The Nintendo Switch is known as the family friendly console of choice, and a new promotion has made it even easier for people to play games together. Nintendo wanted the Switch to be a console people played with friends and family, which is why it’s one of the few consoles that comes with two controllers. The Nintendo Switch is also known for its library of multiplayer games, with a number of first-party games like Pikmin, Pokémon and Mario all including multiplayer modes. It is further cementing its status as the perfect multiplayer console with a new promotion that gives players free games. If you are subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online, there are four multiplayer games you can grab for free for a limited time. All of the games are available to play for one week until Sunday, August 25, 2024. These are the full games and not just demos, so it's possible for you to complete a game before the offer expires. The first game available this week is Tetris Effect: Connected, a popular take on the classic game. It scored an incredible 94 rating on review aggregate site Metacritic, with many claiming that the extensive multiplayer modes make it the definitive version of the game. The next game that is available this week is the popular PowerWash Simulator, which does exactly what it says on the tin. It’s a 84-rated game, and while it has a simple premise, it’s surprisingly gripping and comes with an interesting story. The structures that you power wash get increasingly larger and more complex, so they can take a long time to get clean. The next title available for free is Enter the Gungeon, a popular roguelike multiplayer game. This is an indie hit that earned an impressive 87 rating on Metacritic. The final game available as part of the campaign is the 83-rated Cassette Beasts. A game similar to creature catchers like Pokémon, Cassette Beasts is about recording different creatures onto a tape and using them to battle. One of the biggest bonuses about the multiplayer offer is that all of these games can be played in single-player and multiplayer modes. This means that you can enjoy all of the games even if you own the single-player console, the Switch Lite.
