Oasis and The Who drummer Zak Starkey has reportedly been banned from staying at an Airbnb in Buckinghamshire after he accidentally let it slip he was planning a party.
The musician, who is the son of Beatles star Ringo Starr, was hoping to rent a six bed pad in the Chilterns to celebrate his wife Sharna Liguz's 40th birthday.
However it seems Zak's rockstar reputation let him down on this occasion, as when cleaners found out he was planning a party the Airbnb cancelled his booking.
Scoping out the house, Zak, 58, went to look around the plush property before his stay when he told cleaners about his plan for the party, which had a star-studded guest list including Liam Gallagher and The Smiths star Johnny Marr.
Zak told The Mirror: 'The Airbnb hosts cancelled after Googling me and seeing Oasis and The Who – the two worst-behaved bands in the history of rock 'n' roll . It would look great on a T-shirt.'
However, the Airbnb hosts have reportedly insisted the reason they cancelled his booking wasn't quite so dramatic.
They explained to the publication: 'Zak booked our property through Airbnb last week, saying it was to be a three-day getaway from the kids for his wife's 40th birthday.
'He then said it was really important to see the property beforehand, so he actually came while the property was being cleaned.
'Based on the conversation he had with the cleaners, it was clear that he was planning to host a party, which is unfortunately not permitted under Airbnb rules. Airbnb then subsequently cancelled his booking.'
The Fallout of a Rock Star's Plans
Zak and his wife are gutted to not be staying in the house but have been able to find a new venue for the party at the last minute.
Zak said Sharna was 'absolutely gutted' not to be staying at the Airbnb in Cadmore End, Bucks, but they had been able to find a new venue at the last minute.
MailOnline have contacted Zak's representatives for comment.
A Legacy of Rock 'n' Roll
Zak is the first-born child of the Beatles drummer Ringo, real name Richard Starkey, and his first wife, Maureen Cox.
He has been The Who's full-time drummer since their Quadrophenia Tour in 1996 and joined Oasis in 2004 after Alan White's departure.
Zak and Sharna, who is also known as Sshh, tied the knot in 2022 in front of rock royalty at the legendary Sunset Marquis in West Hollywood.
The lovebirds - who chose their 12-month-old daughter Luna Lee Lightnin's birth date to get hitched - were given away by Ringo, 84, and Sharna's father Andrzej Ligu.
Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder and Johnny Marr were Zak's best men, though the former Smiths rocker couldn't be there in person and was seen appearing via video call on a tablet.
Reggae star Pato Banton officiated the ceremony, the first of two, with the couple later going on to celebrate in Jamaica and the UK.
A Rock Star's Life: Beyond the Headlines
Zak's life has been intertwined with some of the most iconic rock bands in history. He started drumming at the tender age of six, receiving his first kit from The Who frontman Keith Moon. His journey through the world of music has been a whirlwind of legendary collaborations, including stints with The Who, Oasis, The Lightning Seeds, and Johnny Marr and The Healers. Zak's drumming skills and talent have cemented his place as a prominent figure in the music scene. In 2004, he joined Oasis, bringing his unique style to the band's iconic sound. However, the collaboration was short-lived, as he left the group in 2009 following a disagreement with Liam Gallagher.
Beyond his time with prominent bands, Zak has continued to make his mark in the music industry. He launched his own record label, Trojan Jamaica, in 2016, showcasing his passion for music inspired by the Caribbean island, as well as soulful and bluesy sounds from America.
Zak's story is a testament to his passion for music and his dedication to his craft. From his early days as a young drummer to his successful career as a session musician and record label owner, he has consistently demonstrated his commitment to creating and sharing music that resonates with audiences worldwide.
While the Airbnb incident may have been a minor setback, it's just one chapter in the ongoing story of a musician who has lived a life full of rock 'n' roll moments, leaving his mark on the world of music in a way that's as enduring as the legends he has played with.
