Oasis may or may not be finally reuniting this week, and Liam Gallagher is only stoking the rumors with the singer’s social media activity this weekend.

Amid this weekend’s Reading Festival — which the Britpop band headlined 24 years ago today in 2000 — reports emerged that the Gallagher brothers have settled their 15-year feud and will announce a series of 2025 gigs in the U.K., including a 10-night stand at Wembley Stadium (breaking Taylor Swift’s just-set record of eight concerts) and shows at their native Manchester’s Heaton Park.

The Times U.K. first reported the rumors, claiming “industry insiders” confirmed that Oasis would reunite onstage for the first time since August 2009, with an announcement imminent, perhaps as early as this Tuesday. The rumors quickly spread to social media Saturday, eventually catching the attention of Liam Gallagher, who tweeted in response to fans inquiries, “News to me” and “I know nothing.”

As the day progressed, however, Gallagher — perhaps truthfully, perhaps mockingly — began the fan the flames of the reunion rumors. When one fan said they were “scared” about Tuesday’s potential announcement, Gallagher tweeted, “Your scared how do you think I feel.”

Most tellingly, when one fan complained about Oasis playing Heaton Park, a “terrible venue,” Liam quipped back, “See you down the front you big fanny.”

The teasing continued Sunday morning: When asked when the tour dates will be announced, Liam said, “Nxt Friday.” When asked about his plans for 2025, he tweeted, “World domination.”

“I never did like that word FORMER,” Gallagher added in a standalone tweet. The singer also berated a bunch of naysayers with a series of “SHUTUP” and “Your attitude stinks.”

Noel, meanwhile, has been completely silent on the subject.

While Oasis reunion rumors have frequently resurfaced but ultimately disappointed fans over the past decade, this year’s round of rumblings coincide with the 30th anniversary of the band’s debut album Definitely, Maybe, which received a new reissue and a Liam-focused tour earlier this year.

In June 2023, Rolling Stone spoke to Noel — who was seemingly more reluctant to reunite than Liam — about making peace with his brother. “I’ve accepted now that this is never gonna go away.” Noel said of reunion rumors.

“I’ve put it out there that if Liam really wants to do it, he should fucking call me, and he hasn’t called me, so I’m just assuming that he doesn’t want it either. Well, I know for a fact he doesn’t want it either, but he likes to paint this picture of, you know, this little fucking guy who’s sitting with his suitcase packed by the door, you know, like the little fucking cat from fucking Shrek, you know, the little fucking Spanish cat with these big fucking teary eyes. ‘I’m [gonna] go and do it now for you fans. I love you.’ It’s like, well, fucking call me then. And he hasn’t called me. And until he does, it’s fucking going nowhere.”

A Long-Awaited Reunion?

The prospect of an Oasis reunion has been a hot topic for years, with fans hoping for a reconciliation between the Gallagher brothers. The band’s split in 2009 was acrimonious, fueled by years of tension and a public feud between Liam and Noel. However, recent events suggest a thaw in the brothers’ relationship, leading to speculation that a reunion is on the horizon.

Signs of a Reconciliation

While Noel has remained tight-lipped about the reunion rumors, Liam’s recent social media activity has fueled speculation. His cryptic tweets, while seemingly mocking, have kept fans guessing and fueled the fire of anticipation.

The potential reunion coincides with the 30th anniversary of Oasis’s debut album, “Definitely Maybe.” This anniversary has prompted a renewed interest in the band, leading to a resurgence of their music and a new wave of fans.

A New Era for Oasis?

The potential return of Oasis is significant for the music industry. The band’s influence on Britpop and their global success have made them a cultural phenomenon. Their reunion would signify a return to a bygone era, a time when British music dominated the charts.

The potential for a reunion tour has sparked excitement among fans worldwide. An Oasis reunion would be a massive event, with the band likely to play stadiums across the globe.

The Next Chapter

The potential reunion of Oasis is still a rumor, but the signs are promising. Liam Gallagher’s cryptic tweets and the recent anniversary of “Definitely Maybe” have fans dreaming of a return of the Britpop legends. The world is waiting to see if the Gallagher brothers will finally bury the hatchet and bring their iconic music back to the stage.

Please note: The information in this article is based on reports from various sources and should be considered speculation until confirmed by the band themselves.
