Australian Olympic swimmer Brianna Throssell has announced her engagement to fiance Josh Milner while the pair holiday on Italy's Amalfi Coast. The 28-year-old Subiaco-born swimmer posted pictures of the idyllic engagement to Instagram on September 3 with the caption "we said yes to forever".
The Olympic swimmer claimed a gold medal at the Paris Olympics alongside her 4 x 200 metre relay team Mollie O'Callaghan, Lani Pallister and Ariarne Titmus. Following her Olympic success, Brianna jetted off to Europe, nursing a torn calf from a tennis injury, but determined to enjoy some well-deserved downtime. After representing Australia for the first time at the 2016 Rio Olympics, she struck gold at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics in the Women's 4 x 100 metre medley relay and earned a bronze medal in the Mixed 4 x 100 metre medley relay. In recognition of her achievements, she was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the 2022 Australia Day Honours.
A Romantic Proposal
The Olympic swimmer shared the news to social media on Tuesday alongside a gallery of breathtaking images from her Amalfi Coast proposal aboard a yacht. In the first frame, Throssell is seen beaming from ear to ear as her man gets down on bended knee during a cinematic sunset to pop the question. In a second picture, the genetically blessed couple celebrate the moment by sharing a tender embrace, with the lights of Positano glittering in the distance. Several other image saw the gold medallist let flash her stunning diamond ring. The couple opted to both don white outfits for the romantic occasion.
Throssell ensured all eyes were on her figure hugging camisole top and matching skirt that featured intricate detailing. She accessorised her look with two delicate bracelets, a dainty necklace and statement gold earrings. Meanwhile, Milner looked right at home in the cliffside village in a white shirt and chinos. Throssell captioned the exciting announcement with a heartfelt wish for the couple's future.
'We said yes to forever!' she began. 'Here's to endless love, laughter, and making memories that will last a lifetime.' It wasn't long before the special moment was inundated with well-wishers. Olympic champion Ariarne Titmus was quick to share her congratulations. 'I am in awe of you two! Congratulations to the most beautiful couple,' she wrote. 'Congratulations! So happy for you both. These photos are stunning,' added swimmer Shayna Jack 'Absolutely gorgeous. I am so happy for you, Bri, and so proud—congratulations,' wrote Taylor McKeown.
Finding Love and Support
The couple met in Queensland, while Ms Throssell was training for the Olympics, but Mr Milner is based in Melbourne. Ms Throssell said "having him in my life has been one of greatest gifts to this journey". Mr Milner, the owner of health and wellbeing businesses in Victoria and Queensland, celebrated his birthday the following day with Ms Throssell saying "happy birthday to my fiancé, my rock and my greatest supporter". "Your love, patience, and endless encouragement mean the world to me. I'm so grateful to be by your side, today and always," she said.
A Bright Future Awaits
The engagement comes after Brianna's remarkable performance in Paris, where she claimed gold in the women's 4 x 200m freestyle relay alongside teammates Mollie O'Callaghan, Lani Pallister, and Ariarne Titmus. The couple's love story continues to unfold, with a bright future ahead filled with endless possibilities. The engagement signifies a new chapter in their lives, one that promises love, laughter, and a lifetime of memories. As they embark on this exciting journey, their fans and well-wishers eagerly anticipate the next chapter in Brianna and Josh's love story.
