West Aussie families will save more than $100 on a trip to Perth Zoo with free entry all the way through spring.
Available for both adults and children, the Perth Zoo Free Pass will allow entry to the zoo from Monday through to November 30.
Anyone claiming tickets via the app will need to book a specific day to visit so visitor numbers can be managed.
The pass will also provide ticket holders with free public transport to and from the zoo as part of a $6.2 million initiative the government says will save families more than $110 on a day out to the zoo.
Free Entry for Families
A family ticket for two adults and two children would normally cost a family $100.30, while a Transperth family rider ticket costs $10.40. A single adult ticket for the zoo costs $38.10.
“We know that high interest rates and global inflation pressures are putting pressure on household budgets,” Premier Roger Cook said.
“As a dad from Kwinana, I know it can be hard to find affordable things to do with the kids over the school holidays.
“This is just another way we can make it easier for families to get out and about, and enjoy our city.
“With the Perth Zoo Free Pass, families can save more than $110 on a day out at the zoo — so no one misses out.”
Cost of Living Support
It’s the latest in a range of measures from the Cook Government aimed at making life a little easier for struggling WA families as cost-of-living and interest rate hikes hit family budgets hard.
A $400 electricity bill credit and the WA Student Assistance Payment, which provided payments of $250 for each high school student and $150 for each primary student, were amongst those measures.
Record Visitation
Record numbers visited Perth Zoo last financial year with more than 800,000 visitors.
“Visiting Perth Zoo is a beloved pastime for many Western Australians and this initiative provides people the opportunity to enjoy our inner-city oasis,” Environment Minister Reece Whitby said.
“When you claim a ticket, you can bring up to three people with you to enjoy the zoo and make memories together.
“There are plenty of free zookeeper talks, a brand-new adventure playground, opportunities for guided tours and bookable animal encounters — it’s a great day out with something for everyone.
“Providing this free pass initiative will help Perth Zoo introduce even more Western Australians to the wonderful world of wildlife.”
