With training camp underway and the 2024-25 Pittsburgh Penguins season just a few weeks away, now seems like a good time to reintroduce Pensburgh readers to what was formerly known as the “Pensburgh Podcast,” but now runs under the banner of the “Skating Penguin Network.”

Back in the spring of 2023, the Pensburgh version of the podcast was dropped by SBNation, but was kept alive by hosts and Pensburgh writers Garrett Behanna and Robbie Naugle. The show rebranded as the Skating Penguin Network and joined the newly formed Fans First Sports Network that serves as home to several former SBNation podcasts.

In July 2023, listener Mikhail Ceja (aka Snail) joined Garrett and Robbie as a third host on the podcast. Following the end of last season, Garrett stepped down from his role with the Skating Penguin Network, leaving Robbie and Snail to take up the helm and lead the show into the future.

The Show's Evolution

Over the summer, Robbie and Snail have continued to pump out episodes every week, covering offseason happenings as they come about while filling the downtime by answer listener questions in mailbag episodes.

Now, with the new season on the horizon, Robbie and Snail want to reintroduce Pensburgh readers to the podcast and invite every one to tune and listen throughout the season.

Listen to the Skating Penguin Network

Similar to last season, the show will still be doing a weekly mailbag episode where listeners can submit questions for the hosts to answer. Each Sunday, a message from the podcast X account (formerly Twitter) will go out seeking questions for that week’s mailbag. Feel free to give us a follow on X and join in on the mailbags anytime.

In addition to the mailbag episodes, we will be bringing back our game recaps where Robbie and Snail sit down after each Penguins game to breakdown and discuss all the action and give our thoughts on the contest.

Joining the lineup for this season, in addition to the mailbags and game recaps, will be a weekly news episode where Robbie and Snail discuss happenings surrounding the Penguins and the rest of the NHL to keep listeners up to date on what’s going on around the hockey world.

Looking Ahead to the New Season

Just as every other Penguins fan, we are excited for the new season and excited to bring you content all season long. We hope you tune in and enjoy what we have planned for listeners during the upcoming campaign.

You can listen to the Skating Penguin Network by downloading from wherever you get your podcasts. We are on all the major podcast platforms and you can check out any old episodes, including our interview with ‘Just Do Hockey’ equipment designer CJ Gamble in our feed below.

Get Involved

If you’re a Penguins fan, be sure to follow the Skating Penguin Network, Snail, and Robbie on X. Listen to the podcast and get involved by sending in your questions for mailbag episodes or just join the conversation and chat with fellow Pens fans about the team. The Skating Penguin Network is a great way to stay up to date on all things Penguins and enjoy some great hockey discussion.
