The Baltimore Ravens are adding another explosive playmaker to their offense, as running back Keaton Mitchell is set to make his season debut on Thursday night against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Mitchell, who was activated off the physically unable to perform list on Thursday, has not played since he suffered a full tear of the ACL in his left knee in December 2023. He was a full participant in practice all week, indicating he is ready to contribute to Baltimore's league-leading rushing attack.

The Ravens had long expected Mitchell's return in November. As an undrafted rookie last season, he averaged 8.4 yards per carry on 47 attempts, totaling 396 rushing yards in eight games. He even scored touchdown runs of 39 and 40 yards.

Mitchell’s speed would complement the power running of Derrick Henry, who leads the NFL with 1,052 rushing yards and 13 total touchdowns. The Ravens' offense has been dominant through nine games this season, ranking first in total yards (445.9) and rushing yards (191.9).

Mitchell's Return Adds Another Dimension

The Ravens' backfield will finally have all its firepower with Mitchell's return. With Mitchell joining NFL-leading rusher Derrick Henry, Lamar Jackson, and Justice Hill, the Ravens' league-leading rushing attack is even more dangerous.

Mitchell's return is a significant boost for the Ravens, who are looking to continue their strong season. With a potent rushing attack led by Henry and Jackson, the Ravens have the potential to be a dangerous team in the AFC. Mitchell's return adds another dimension to the offense and gives the Ravens another weapon to use on the field.

Making Room for Mitchell

The Ravens made room for Mitchell on the roster by waiving outside linebacker Yannick Ngakoue, who recorded 1.5 sacks and four quarterback hits in five games this season. Ngakoue's release is likely to mean the return of David Ojabo to the gameday roster.

To further bolster their defensive line, the Ravens elevated nose tackle Josh Tupou and linebacker Kristian Welch from the practice squad. Tupou joins Baltimore's defensive line after spending his last six seasons with the Bengals, while Welch adds depth at linebacker.

A Powerful Backfield

The Ravens backfield is a formidable force, led by Derrick Henry, the NFL’s rushing leader. Mitchell’s speed and agility will add a new dimension to the Ravens' offense, as they can utilize him as a change-of-pace back, receiving option, or even as a kick returner.

Baltimore already has the thunder at running back with Henry, and Justice Hill has also been solid in his role. The arrival of Mitchell brings the lightning, which is just in time for a huge AFC North game against the Bengals.

With a potent offensive attack and a strong defense, the Ravens are a team to watch in the AFC. Mitchell's return is a sign that the Ravens are committed to being a playoff contender, and they will be a dangerous team to face in the postseason.

The Future is Bright

Mitchell's return to the Ravens lineup is a sign of the exciting future ahead for Baltimore. He is a young and talented running back with the potential to be a major contributor for years to come. With a strong backfield and a high-powered offense, the Ravens are poised for success in the upcoming season and beyond.
