El Clasico Preview
As Barcelona and Real Madrid meet for a preseason El Clasico, it's a debut for Hansi Flick in the storied rivalry. Joining Barcelona after they parted ways with Xavi Hernandez during the summer, Flick will now enter the biggest managerial job of his career with high expectations.
Coming off of winning La Liga last season, Real Madrid bolstered their squad by adding Kylian Mbappe which could put even more of a gap between them and their rivals. While Mbappe won't feature in this match, his presence in the squad now does raise the stakes of this meeting despite it only being a friendly.
Here are our storylines, how you can watch the match and more:
Barcelona
With the majority of their first team squad available for this match, it's a great chance for Flick to test the squad against top opposition. It doesn't get much bigger than facing Real Madrid even if it's a friendly which offers great learning opportunities for younger players who may not get into the regular season version of this rivalry match.
Real Madrid
Unlike Barcelona, Real Madrid has large portions of their squad yet to start preseason training but it still allows the squad an opportunity to show what they can do against stars like Robert Lewandowski. It's especially big for Endrick who despite his age has big expectations for Los Blancos. This may be the deepest side in the world and El Clasico is a chance to showcase it.
The result may not matter but when bitter rivals meet, they won't want to drop a match even in the preseason. Pick: Barcelona 1, Real Madrid 2

Real Madrid vs Barcelona: A Clash of Titans
The Santiago Bernabéu loyalists remain euphoric following the arrival of their new poster boy, Kylian Mbappé, into the Real Madrid family. The reigning European champions appear formidable on paper, with any club likely to be intimidated by the trio of Vinícius Jr., Kylian Mbappé and Rodrygo. However, Los Blancos faced a narrow defeat in their previous fixture against AC Milan. A solitary goal from Samuel Chukwueze had propelled the Rossoneri to triumph.
Hansi Flick’s FC Barcelona inaugurated their pre-season campaign with a victory over the reigning English Premier League champions, Manchester City, decided by penalties. The Blaugrana outfit have won all their previous five matches across all competitions, defeating Real Sociedad, Almería, Rayo Vallecano, Sevilla and City. They have also registered three clean sheets in these matches while conceding a total of only three goals.
Anticipate an action-packed and thrilling encounter as both sides strive for nothing less than a win in the upcoming friendly fixture. This match transcends a mere friendly. It is a clash of two of the oldest arch-rivals in the history of Spanish football.

Key Players to Watch
Arda Güler (Real Madrid)
The Turkish prodigy, fresh off a remarkably successful Euro campaign with Turkey, has been thrust into the spotlight. Arda Güler etched his name into history by becoming only the third teenager to both score and assist in a single Euros, a feat previously accomplished by Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney. At Real Madrid, he is an untapped reservoir of talent that Carlo Ancelotti is eager to unleash.
Robert Lewandowski (FC Barcelona)
The Polish national team captain, Robert Lewandowski is poised to be an indispensable asset for Hansi Flick in the upcoming season. The Polish legend has surpassed the 600-goal mark in his senior career for both club and country. After an illustrious eight-year tenure with Bayern Munich, where he served the ‘Mia San Mia’ loyalists, Lewandowski transitioned to the Spanish top flight, making his way to Camp Nou. To date, he has nearly a century of appearances for FC Barcelona, during which he has found the back of the net 59 times.
Predicted Starting Lineups

Courtois (GK); Vazquez, Vallejo, Rudiger, Garcia; Modric, Martin, Ceballos; Güler, Endrick, Diaz
FC Barcelona:
Sotorres (GK); Fort, Dominguez, Lenglet, Martin; Bernal, Casado; J Araujo, Torre, Roque; Lewandowski
Match Prediction
Looking at the injury woes in Hansi Flick’s team, it would take more than a miracle for FC Barcelona to win the match against Real Madrid. We are expecting Los Blancos to get the better of Flick’s team by a comfortable margin.
