Roy Keane has given a rare glimpse into his family life - in a break from his usual hardman act. The former Manchester United star ended his lengthy Instagram hiatus earlier this year by posting a snap of himself with old pal Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. In his latest post the Irishman, 53, shared a heartwarming picture of himself with daughter Leah. Keane has five children with wife Theresa Doyle; Shannon, Caragh, Aidan, Leah and Alanna. He often refers to Leah as "No.4", due to her being his fourth child. After making a 180-mile trip to visit her, Keane beamed for a picture with Leah, as they both sat on the sofa. He captioned the snap: "No.4 thinks because she lives 180 miles away that I won’t pop in for a cup of tea. Always watching." Fans loved Keane's post, which has received nearly 300,000 likes. Plenty also rushed to leave a comment. One joked: "Any boyfriends biggest nightmare." While another laughed: "Imagine meeting a nice girl. Them saying my parents want to meet you. You knock on the door and Roy Keane answers. The f***ing panic you’d feel for about 15 seconds would be monumental." A third joked: "I love the way he numbers his kids." And a fourth added: "That looks like a smile to me Roy, I thought they were overrated?!" Keane recently had pals Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Ian Wright in stitches during the latest episode of The Overlap on Tour. As they drove around Rome, making conversation, Keane said: "I'd like to do a rally thing, drive a proper car. Would you like to do that lads? Around a track?" After a brief pause, Neville cut in: "We're not filming like, but..." Mimicking hurt feelings, Keane replied: "So we can only chat when we're filming? Okay, I thought we'd have a chat as friends... Jesus, sorry - I apologise. Camera, action, let's pretend we like each other." Neville, 49, began to laugh as soon as Keane hit back at him. While the Irishman's last comment had Wright and Carragher in stitches from the back seat.

Roy Keane's Rare Glimpse Into Family Life

The former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has five children with his wife Theresa - Shannon, Caragh, Aidan, Leah and Alanna - and the Sky Sports pundit has a sweet nickname for one of them. Football fans were all left saying the exact same thing as Roy Keane travelled across the country to call in on one of his children. The football pundits followers on social media were also left in hysterics as the dad-of-five. 53, revealed the nicknames he has for his offspring. Keane shares his five children with his wife Theresa Doyle. The Sky Sports presenter and Theresa are proud parents to Shannon, Caragh, Aidan, Leah and Alanna - as well as two grandchildren. In a photograph shared to Instagram in 2021, Keane sarcastically wrote: "Just like his grandad, always smiling," alongside a snap of he and his then-baby grandson sporting unimpressed expressions.

Keane's Affectionate Nickname For His Daughter

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, Keane shared a sweet snap of himself and his daughter Leah. Captioning the picture, the Manchester United legend told his 2.2million followers: "No.4 thinks because she lives 180 miles away that I won’t pop in for a cup of tea. Always watching [Eyes emoji]." Within seconds of Keane posting the cute image many of the retired sports stars fans flocked to the comment section to quip "that's your job" or "that's your job as a father" - a play on Keane's popular catchphrase. The pundit often says "that's his job" in reference to a player's role in a football match when praise is handed out too freely.

Fans React To Keane's Post

Other Instagram users were quick to comment on Keane's cheeky nickname for his daughter, No.4 - a reference to her being the second youngest of his five children. "Calling your children by numbers is crazyy," one quipped, as another added: "I love the way he numbers his kids." A third amused fan wrote: "Number 4 [laughing emojis]."

A Softer Side To The Hardman

Keane, one of Manchester United's most celebrated midfielders, is renowned for his tough-guy image on the field. Now retired and thriving as a pundit, the 53 year old leads a completely different life with his family, friends and colleagues. The defensive midfielder spent 12 years at Old Trafford from 1993 to 2005, where he clinched seven Premier League titles, four FA Cups, four Community Shields and the Champions League in 1999. Even though he retired in 2006 after a spell at Celtic, the Irishman has remained active in football. After two years at Sunderland and another two at Ipswich in managerial roles, Keane transitioned into punditry - regularly collaborating with ITV and Sky Sports and cementing himself as a fan-favourite.

A Love Story That Began In A Club

Keane's wife, Theresa Doyle, has been a constant presence in his life since they met in 1992 while he was playing for Nottingham Forest. In an interview with The Mirror, Keane recalled: "I spotted a beautiful girl in a club in town. Her name was Theresa Doyle but she blanked me." At the time, Theresa was in a steady relationship and wasn't impressed by Keane's footballer status. However, after her relationship ended, she eventually agreed to go out with him, and they fell in love. The couple got married at the Church of Our Lady Crowned in Mayfield, Cork, in 1997. In an interview with the Sunday Times in the early 2000s, Keane praised his wife, saying: "I don't really mention her in public, but in fairness to her, she has been a rock in my life. Just brilliant. She reads me better than I read myself. I wouldn't say Theresa likes every part of the package. She knows I haven't got a halo over my head. Actually, that's what she likes about me. She also knows I am not the nastiest person in the world."
