Roy Keane, the esteemed former footballer and respected figure in the sport, has an impressive career history and continues to influence football punditry. During a memorable 12-year stint at Manchester United, the tough Irish midfield maestro secured seven Premier League titles, four FA Cups, an equal number of Community Shields, and celebrated a Champions League victory in 1999. He first made his mark at Nottingham Forest as a young player before briefly returning to work in Martin O'Neill's management team at the City Ground. Since hanging up his boots, 53 year old Keane has transitioned into punditry with remarkable ease after managerial stints at both Sunderland and Ipswich Town.

Roy Keane's Net Worth: A Reflection of Success

Celebrity Net Worth estimates that Roy Keane's net worth is approximately £46.5 million, reflecting his successful football career and his engaging presence as a television pundit, reports Nottinghamshire Live. Keane has also ventured into the fashion industry; he recently partnered with Adidas for the launch of the 2023 Spezial Autumn/Winter collection. Behind the Gruff Exterior: A Look at Roy Keane's Family Life

Roy Keane, the formidable ex-midfielder, has revealed glimpses into his stable personal life with Theresa Doyle, who he married in 1997. Reflecting on their first encounter, Keane reminisced in a chat with The Mirror: "I spotted a beautiful girl in a club in town. Her name was Theresa Doyle but she blanked me." Keane shared insight into his early days with wife Theresa with a sense of nostalgia, noting, "She was in a steady relationship and didn't seem at all impressed by Roy Keane, the great footballer. In fact, I think my reputation was as a downer for all kinds of reasons. From time to time we ran into each other around Nottingham. I knew some of her friends, who told me Theresa was a dentist's assistant. Eventually, after her relationship broke up, she relented and we went out together. I was in love." The couple sealed their love with nuptials at the Church of Our Lady Crowned located in Mayfield, a nod to Keane's Cork roots.

Despite usually keeping his family out of the spotlight, Keane opened up in an interview with the Sunday Times, mentioning: "I don't really mention her in public," while admitting, "But in fairness to her, she has been a rock in my life." He proceeded to voice his admiration for Theresa, remarking, "Just brilliant. She reads me better than I read myself. I wouldn't say Theresa likes every part of the package. She knows I haven't got a halo over my head. Actually, that's what she likes about me. She also knows I am not the nastiest person in the world." The Keanes are proud parents to a sizeable brood, with their five children named Shannon, Caragh, Aidan, Leah, and Alanna, alongside being grandparents to two.

A Glimpse into the Keane Family Life

Keane, having recently joined Instagram, has been offering fans a glimpse into his family life on social media. In 2021, he shared a humorous photo of himself looking stern alongside his baby grandson, quipping: "Just like his grandad, always smiling,". On another occasion, Keane displayed his playful side, donning a Paw Patrol costume while spending time with his grandchildren, jokingly adding: "Available for party hire. I don't like parties or kids but the pool needs heating." Discussing his post-retirement family plans in his autobiography, Keane stated: "My plan when I first stopped was, we're going to go on some family trips, we're going to be like the Waltons." He went on to say: "We're all going to spend time together, go walk in the park, and after a month or two they didn't have the same plan as me so I think they were kind of missing me going to work. I got offered the job at Sunderland and I was away on a family holiday and my family were looking at me... Not saying it directly but going we kind of enjoy your company but not too much of it so when the job came back up they were saying you should go for it."

More Than Just a Footballer: A Family Man with a Soft Side

Irish soccer star Roy Keane is known for his tough, no-nonsense football punditry but he tends to shed his gruff image and show his softer side around his family. Roy has been married for to Theresa Doyle for 27 years and they share five children together – Shannon, Caragh, Aidan, Leah and Alanna. The former Manchester United player, 52, is usually very private about his family life but sometimes shares glimpses of his loving relationship with his wife, kids or grandkids online - let alone his love for the family pets! Here's a look at his family life from his marriage to wife Theresa, embracing life as a grandad and everything in between.

Roy first met his wife Theresa Doyle in a club in Nottingham in 1992 things got off to a bad start on their first date as it ended with her getting out of the car and slamming the door. He told RTE's Tommy Tiernan how he picked Theresa up for a drive but had no real plan for the date and Theresa was so unimpressed with his suggestions of the cinema or drinks, she cut it short and left after 15 minutes. Roy said: 'She got out and I said, "Might see you next week?" and she said "I don't think so" and slammed the door. That was my first date. And we're still married.' However, the attraction won out in the end and they tied the knot five years later at the Church of Our Lady Crowned in Mayfield, County Cork in 1997, with Roy describing her as 'a rock in my life'.

Roy and Theresa's first child, was their daughter Shannon, followed by another daughter, Caragh, a son, Aidan, and then two more daughters Leah and Alanna. During his time as a professional footballer in the Premier League, he would often bring them out onto the pitch with him. The former Republic of Ireland captain is a real family man and in his autobiography, Keane: The Autobiography, Roy has said that there is nothing he loves more than spending time with his family. Despite his major career successes, he recalled how after winning the Champions League with Manchester United in 1999, he 'longed to go home to Theresa and the kids.' Now, Roy sometimes shares old family photos on their birthdays or at their college graduation, showing his close bond with his kids. The former footballer posted a rare photo of him and his daughter Leah looking cosy on the couch on September 26, alongside a hilarious caption. 'No.4 thinks because she lives 180 miles away that I won’t pop in for a cup of tea. Always watching'- of course Roy would call his daughter 'No.4' instead of her name, keep them humble!

Roy has two grandchildren and appears to be well up for a bit of fun as a grandad. He once shared a snap of himself dressed as the police dog Chase from the Paw Patrol cartoon with his cute granddaughter and grandson hugging his leg in the snap as he joked: 'Available for party hire. I don't like parties or kids but the pool needs heating.' The pundit first announced his new grandparent status with an Instagram post in 2021, sharing a picture holding his then-baby grandson and him pulling the same grumpy face, joking: 'Just like his grandad, always smiling.'

His family isn't just limited to his wife, kids, and grandkids, Roy is a huge dog lover and considers them part of his own family. Speaking about his non-football related passions on Gary Neville's football podcast The Overlap, Roy simply replied: 'Family, dogs, that's it.' He said his dogs give him 'good security' as well as being 'good for a bit of exercise' and declared: 'Love them to bits.' Sadly, one of Roy's beloved dogs, Jet, a German Shepherd recently passed away in May 2024. Roy wrote: 'Thanks, Jet for being so beautiful and loyal to our family. We will miss you.'
