đ¶ I'm working laaaate to dream up these outfit ideas đ¶
Sabrina Carpenter is, finally, getting her flowers. Ever since demurely (I don't use that word lightly!!!) performing what would become the song of 2024 as part of her Coachella setâno, literally, "Espresso" just won the MTV Video Music Award for Song of the Yearâall eyes have been on 'Brina. And exactly a month to the date after kissing the world with her sixth studio album, Short n' Sweet (it's like she planned it or smth...), she's kicking off her Short n' Sweet Tour in Columbus, Ohio on September 23.
As if answering our prayers, her team just posted an official mood board for Short n' Sweet Tour outfits. The vibe? Pastel colors, platform shoes, babydoll dresses, sparkles, and heart and kiss motifs.
But IMHO, this is just a starting point! I combined this list with more themes from the album and era, Miss Carpenter's recent looks (shoutout to @styleforsabby on Instagram), some Amazon finds bc I know you're shopping for your tour look last-minute, and last but certainly not least, ideas for doing your "makeup so nice," courtesy of Cosmo beauty editor Beth Gilette.
Read on for Short n' Sweet Tour outfit ideas, and if all else fails, just buy this Jesus Was A Carpenter T-shirt.
Short N' Sweet Tour Tickets Are Hard to Find
Ok, so here's deal. Demand for Short n' Sweet Tour tickets has only gone up since the initial on-sale date... Not great news considering the entire tour sold out in nine days back in June. Itâs slim pickins (heh) for most major cities, and you're going to have to shell out annoying resale prices.
Note: If you are mentally prepared to splurge (it will be the night of your life, after all!!!) StubHub is your best bet. ICYMI, StubHub's resale processing fee (10%) is slightly lower than Ticketmaster's (12.5%), which can def make a difference when you're buying multiple $100+ tix! Here are a some of the resale prices I'm seeing on StubHub at the time of publish:
Espresso-Inspired Outfits
Is it that sweet? I guess so, when I wear head-to-toe espresso brown. The song of the summer ironically makes for the perfect fall mood board, especially when you can raid your closet for an undeniably on-theme look for the Short Nâ Sweet Tour.
The key to building a successful monochrome brown look? Texture. Think: mix-and-match suede, knits, mesh, canvas, and silk fabrics. And while we're partial to a rich chocolatey hue, don't be afraid to layer it with different shades of brown like camel, tan, khaki, maroon, or even plaid to create depth.
Coquette Looks for a Sweet Night
Sabrina, certified arbiter of the coquette aesthetic, has made babydoll dresses and platform heels so much her signature silhouette that you may not even immediately notice it. But after one scroll through her recent performance looks (Coachella! Gov Ball! Outside Lands!), you'll notice a theme. Take this opportunity to lean into all things frilly, dainty, lacy, and romantic, and please please please top it with a bow.
The official tour moodboard made it clear that pastel colors are the way to go when leaning this direction. Reach for light pink, baby blue, and butter yellow. And to take your look to new heights, consider Sabrina's signature platform shoes. Bonus points if it's a pair she's actually worn, like the Versace Medusa or Marc Jacobs Kiki (obvs expensive, but you'll have them forever!).
Retro Vibes for a Time Warp
Sabrina loves a reference (see next section), and her personal style through this era has pulled a little something from every corner of the retro universe. Whether a specific moment in pop culture historyâi.e. Madonna at the VMAsâor a callback to an iconic style decadeâher '70s curtain bangs or '50s-style swimwear from the "Espresso" music videoâthese looks are A) easy to recreate and B) so wearable for repeated use after your tour date has come and gone.
Honorable mention for this romper that's practically identical to the tube dress Sabrina wears in the "Espresso" single artwork, but with built-in shorts for comfortable dancing alllll night long. Also, these $27 gogo boots on Amazon with over 10,000 reviews.
Horror-Inspired Outfits
In a spooky szn special edition of referencing pop culture, Sabrina recently released the "Taste" music video (yaknow, the one guest starring Jenna Ortega, the new-age scream queen we deserve?!) laden with classic horror references. I think it'd be so fun to lean into the campy horror theme and pull inspiration from this video since the tour falls around Halloween.
Go the Death Becomes Her route and pay homage to icons of screen Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn. Or, make your life so easy with a look you can repurpose as your Halloween costume for this year, like the Kill Bill nurse. If you're reading this mere days before your show date (felt), place a one-two punch Amazon order of a pink hospital gown and fake blood and call it a day. If I were going to the tour sigh this is the section I'd be shopping.
Makeup for a Night of Sweetness
Sabrina is always serving face (and singing about it, too). So I consulted with Beth Gillette, beauty editor, on how to create the perfect makeup look to complete your Short n' Sweet fantasy.
"Humblebrag, but I will be in attendance for the tour and absolutely will be going for a sexy, glam goth vibe ĂĄ la the "Taste" music video," she said. "Makeup By Mario's Master Mattes Neutrals palette is the perfect choice for a cool-toned, gray smokey eye, IMO. Just place the deep gray shade on your top and bottom lashline and your outer corner, then blend out the edges, and finish with a few coats of waterproof mascara (bc, yes, I will absolutely be crying to "Dumb and Poetic," it's a rite of passage)."

As students return to campuses everywhere, it is clear that summer has ended. With it, the joys and excitement that came from attending a plethora of concerts this past summer has also come to a close. With headliners like Taylor Swift and BeyoncĂ©, this summer was one to remember as people everywhere spent their savings to secure tickets for their most beloved artists.Â
Not only did major names in the music industry go on tours this past summer, but new songs and number-one hits were released, including various songs sung by Sabrina Carpenter, one of the most up-and-coming artists.Â
As fans listened in to hear songs like âPlease, Please, Please,â and âEspresso,â they fell in love with Carpenterâs upbeat, sultry and summery sounds as she sang her way into our hearts. It seemed only obvious that her next move after creating so many hits would be to go on tour. With tours and concert dates, however, come ticket sales â sales that have stood to create mass controversy across the globe.Â
On June 20 and July 23, Carpenter released the official dates for her upcoming âShort nâ Sweetâ tour for the U.S. and the U.K. With prices ranging up to the triple digits, fans have responded in an uproar about how Carpenterâs tickets are overpriced and unaffordable for families and her young fan base.Â
Fans in the U.K. have expressed aggravation about how the cost of a Carpenter concert has gone from ÂŁ25 to a whopping ÂŁ250. That is ten times more than last year. As prices have risen, Carpentersâ fans have turned to social media to voice their concerns and express how Carpenter is not yet a long-established artist.
In an article for the âDaily Mail,â Milly Veitch cites the various comments that Carpenterâs fans have written, many of which have gone on to mock her lyrics writing, ââI'm working late to save up to see her.â Fans have also begun to insult Carpenter by claiming that she has only two major hits and that her âticket prices are absolute madness.â
Amid the anger and frustration of her fans, Ticketmaster crashed during sales, causing even more mayhem than the ticket crash during Swiftâs Eras Tour presale did. As thousands of buyers went on to buy their tickets to Carpenterâs tour, dozens of resellers began to snatch up the tickets, then selling them back to the public at prices even higher than those listed by Carpenter. Even looking today, tickets range in price from the low hundreds of dollars up to the thousands, depending on the city.
Various Marist College students commented about their experiences buying tickets for Swiftâs Eras Tour and Carpenterâs âShort nâ Sweetâ Tour, all of which had the same overall theme: Swift priced her tickets high, but given her status within the music industry and her years of experience, she had a right to price tickets as such. Carpenter did not.Â
âTaylor Swiftâs tickets were quite fairly priced for what you were getting,â said Huy Huong â25. âIt honestly could have been more expensive and would have appealed to the same crowd.âÂ
But letâs leave that idea up to the Swifites: Would you still have bought Eras tickets if they were tens, if not hundreds, of dollars more?
Unfortunately, expensive concert tickets are likely here to stay, as many artists have turned to a scheme called dynamic pricing to price their tours. Dynamic pricing relies heavily on the supply and demand of the population, with prices rising as more people are attracted to a given artist.
While the debate continues over Carpenterâs ticket pricing, it is clear that her ticket prices are here to stay as her popularity has soared, given her summer of top hits. All we can hope for in the future of concerts and tours is that prices will flatline, instead of soar, as dynamic pricing continues. However, knowing the trajectory of the music industry, that is a prediction that is hard to make and harder to follow.Â
âConcerts have just gotten super duper expensive in my opinion,â said Huong. âLetâs bring back Woodstock tickets when it was like $6.â
