After a long, exciting season on the PGA Tour and three thrilling FedEx Cup Playoff events, we’ve reached the grande finale with the final round at the 2024 Tour Championship. And enormous amounts of money will be doled out to players thanks to the record-breaking purse this week.
Players competing at East Lake are not just playing for the Tour Championship title but the FedEx Cup as well. And that’s where all the money is coming from.
The total Tour Championship and FedEx Cup purse equals an astounding $100 million. But that money won’t be doled out evenly.
Whether World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler successfully finishes off his Tour Championship campaign on Sunday, or if Collin Morikawa is able to steal it away, the winner will earn $25 million.
But second place isn’t all that bad. This week the runner-up will earn a cool $12.5 million, more than three times the winner’s share at the major championships.
And last place will still earn a pretty penny, too, to the tune of $550,000.
You can check out the entire purse breakdown for the 2024 Tour Championship and FedEx Cup below.
The largest prize fund ever established was dished out on Sunday at the 2024 Tour Championship as the entire PGA Tour season concluded at East Lake Golf Club. With the top 30 players from the PGA Tour vying for their slice of the $100 million FedEx Cup bonus pool -- up $25 million from last year -- competitors had the chance to see jaw-dropping figures hit their back accounts by week's end.
Signature events and the first two playoff events boasted a total purse of $20 million, which amounted to $5 million less than what this week's eventual winner will take home. Increasing $7 million compared to the last two seasons, the winner's share represents the largest in PGA Tour history and a $10 million increase compared to 2019 -- the first year of the staggered start format.
Scottie Scheffler was the lone man to surpass $25 million in earnings this season as he won the Masters, Players Championship and four signature events -- six of the largest paydays of the year. Xander Schauffele nearly clipped $20 million himself thanks to two major victories, while Hideki Matsuyama, Wyndham Clark and Rory McIlroy round out those to earn more than eight figures in 2024.
Still, a top-five finish guaranteed players at least a $5 million bonus, while those inside the top 12 all saw seven figures next to their names. Everyone in the field earned at least a half million dollars for qualifying for the Tour Championship.
Let's take a look at the payout list for the 30 players who were in attendance at the 2024 Tour Championship. The other 120 players in the FedEx Cup standings will split the remaining $17.05 million.

The Biggest Payday in Golf History
The PGA Tour season ends on Sunday at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta for the 2024 TOUR Championship. In the sixth year of the staggered-scoring start for the FedEx Cup Playoffs finale, it was Scottie Scheffler, again, who entered this tournament with a two-stroke lead atop the leaderboard. But this time, he was looking to close the deal and capture the monstrous TOUR Championship prize money that comes with it.
Scheffler had entered the TOUR Championship in the lead twice before this year and, both times, he was surpassed. It first happened with Rory McIlroy blitzing the field but then again in 2023 with Viktor Hovland continuing a hot streak to the winner's circle. In the 2024 season, however, Scheffler looked dead-set on not allowing that, shooting a blistering 16-under through the first three rounds to give himself a five-shot lead over Collin Morikawa and the rest of the field.
With the type of prize money on the line this week, there's always extra motivation at East Lake to close the deal. But how much dough are we talking? Take a look at these TOUR Championship payout breakdowns and tell me you wouldn't be trying to turn it up for this type of payday.
The winner of the TOUR Championship will take home a ridiculous $25 million in prize money. The winner's share for capturing the TOUR Championship and the FedEx Cup is actually $5 million more than the total purse of signature events and the other two events in the playoff. The total TOUR Championship purse comes in at $82.95 million this week that will be split among the 30 players who made it to East Lake. In total, the FedEx Cup purse is $120 million with the differing $17.05 million being split up among players ranked No. 31-150 in the final FedEx Cup standings.

The prize money is out of control when it comes to the TOUR Championship, in a good way. Finishing in the Top 5 at East Lake guarantees you a $5 million payday at minimum, which would be the largest winner's share on the PGA Tour in any other event. Moreover, every player inside the Top 12 clears seven figures while last place is still clocking a cool $550,000.
Perhaps the wildest stat in all of this, though: Scottie Scheffler, who entered the final round at East Lake with a five-stroke lead, is the only player to clear $25 million in earnings in the 2024 PGA Tour season. He would add to that exceptionally if he closes it out on Sunday.
