Severe Storms Expected to Hit the Midwest
Storms will be a daily occurrence this week in the Midwest, with a significant risk of severe weather. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Slight Risk for severe storms across parts of the region, including Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky.
Threats Include Damaging Winds, Torrential Rains, and Tornadoes
The main threats associated with these storms are damaging winds, torrential rains, and the possibility of tornadoes. Winds could gust up to 70 mph, and hail up to the size of ping-pong balls is also possible. The heavy rains could lead to flash flooding, especially in low-lying areas.
Timing of the Storms
A line of storms is expected to move through the region on Thursday afternoon and evening, bringing the greatest risk of severe weather. Additional storms are possible on Friday and Saturday.
Stay Weather Aware
Residents in the affected areas should monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take shelter if necessary. Have an emergency plan in place and know where to go if a tornado warning is issued.
