Sky Sports+ Launches with 1,000+ EFL Matches: How to Watch on TV, Streaming & App

Sky Sports+ is bringing customers 50 per cent more sport including over 1,000 EFL matches this season. Here’s what you need to know to watch your team…

Launched on August 8, Sky Sports+ will be integrated into Sky TV, streaming service NOW and the Sky Sports app - giving Sky Sports customers access to over 50 per cent more live sport this year at no extra cost.

With the capability to show up to 100 live events via concurrent streams, Sky Sports+ makes it easier for fans to find and watch their team.

EFL Coverage

The scale of Sky Sports+ will be evident this weekend for the start of the EFL football season where every game from the Championship, League One and League Two will be streamed live which will become a first in broadcasting history.

The EFL will be at the heart of Sky Sports+ coverage and will see over 1,000 games from the Championship, League One and League Two shown live throughout the season, while every Carabao Cup fixture will also be broadcasted.

It's not just football that Sky Sports+ will show. Rugby league fans will be able to watch every single match from the Super League while tennis fans can enjoy coverage from the ATP and WTA Tours and the final grand slam of the year, the US Open from August 26 to September 9.

Every League One and League Two team will be featured live on Sky at least 20 times next season.

How to Watch Sky Sports+

Sky TV Subscribers

Customers with a full Sky Sports subscription won't need to do a thing. Once live, Sky Sports+ will simply drop into the existing Sky experience, across Sky Glass, Sky Stream, Sky Q, and NOW. Sign in to the Sky Sports app to watch your team on your mobile device, with Sky Sports+ streams accessible directly from the app.

Non-Sky Subscribers

For instant, contract-free access to all Sky Sports channels, non-Sky subscribers can purchase a NOW Sports Day or Month Membership. From August, this will also include every single live Sky Sports+ stream and on demand catch-up content.

New Customer Offer

An exclusive offer is also available for new customers to get Sky Sports (including Sky Sports+) and Sky TV in Ultra HD, plus Netflix included for the lowest ever price of £43 per month. Fans can enjoy an epic summer of sport on Sky Sports and unmissable Sky Originals & Exclusives, and with Netflix included too, customers can keep up with all the action with just one simple subscription*.

Sky Sports+ Features

Live Pause & Rewind

Live pause and rewind will be available with all Sky Sports+ live streams, while an updated user interface is claimed to make it easier for fans to discover and watch their favourite sports. Live scores from concurrent games will be displayed on match ‘tiles’, too, so you can keep an eye on how rival teams are doing.

Exclusive Documentaries

The new channel is also going to be the home for exclusive access to Sky’s own sports documentaries at least two weeks before they appear anywhere else. These documentaries kick off for the new season with Mission To Burnley 2, with all episodes being available to watch from August 9.

Sky Sports+ Channel Number

Sky Sports+ can be found on linear channel number 410 for Sky Glass customers, 412 for Sky Q customers and 416 for ROI.

Sky Sports+ EFL Coverage: Schedule & Key Fixtures

EFL Fixtures

Each full weekend of EFL fixtures will see 10 live matches shown - including three Championship, two League One and two League Two matches all broadcast live at 12:30pm on Saturdays.

All opening weekend, final day, and midweek fixtures in the EFL will be shown live, as will all games played on Bank Holidays including Easter, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. The matches played in League One and League Two during international breaks will also be available live.

Carabao Cup & Bristol Street Motors Trophy

For the first time ever, fans will be also able to watch every match from the Carabao Cup and Bristol Street Motors Trophy.

Article 48

While some matches will be rescheduled for broadcast purposes, the majority of fixtures won't be moved. The blocked broadcast period - frequently referred to as 'Article 48' - between 2.45pm and 5.15pm on Saturday afternoons, will remain, meaning that main broadcast fixtures will be scheduled for outside of this time.

New Channels on Sky Glass & Sky Stream

British subscription broadcaster Sky has announced that it is adding no less than seven new channels to its extensive line up - all at no extra cost to existing subscribers. In fact, the arrival of the new Sky Sports+ channel has been accompanied by a lowest price ever deal for new customers for a Sky Sports, Sky TV and Netflix package.

The other six channels added to Sky’s Sky Glass and Sky Stream platforms (on a free ad-supported streaming television basis) are Sky Sports Classics, Sky Sports Stories, Sky Sports Vault, Sky Presents Artist Of The Year, Pick Paranormal, and Emergency 24/7.

Sky Sports Classics

Sky Sports Classics delves into the Sky Sports archives to deliver a parade of Premier League football icons and legends, while Sky Sports Vaults revisits classic darts, EFL and boxing content, including 30 years of the PDC World Championship and Fight Night events.

Sky Sports Stories

Sky Sports Stories will be the new home for sports documentaries, from EFL Rivalries to Her Huddle.

Sky Presents Artist Of The Year

Sky Artist Of The Year, finally, pitches itself as the channel for art aficionados, providing a convenient way for fans of Sky’s Portrait Artist of the Year and Landscape Artist of the Year shows to find all their favourite artistic action.

Pick Paranormal

Pick Paranormal will of course focus on paranormal shows such as Most Haunted, while Emergency 24/7 will exclusively show reality-based crime shows such as Highway Cops, Air Ambulance ER and Stop Search Seize.

Xumo Play

Note that these latter six new channels aren’t being added to the Sky interface in the same way that Sky Sports+ is. Instead they will be available through the new Xumo Play app on Sky’s Glass and Stream devices, which now offers more than 70 other additional channels including Dateline, Reuters and American Classics. Xumo is a joint venture between Comcast and Charter, and its arrival on the Sky platform marks the first time that it’s being available outside North America.

Xumo Play can be found in the apps rail on the Sky Glass and Sky Stream OSD, or simply by saying ‘Xumo Play’ into the Sky Voice remote control, and can be accessed without the need to set up a separate account.

The Future of Sky Sports+

Sky Sports' Managing Director Jonathan Licht commented: "Exceptional sport, covered in an innovative and compelling way, has been a big part of our history. With the introduction of Sky Sports+, we are now able to offer sport fans more choice and an even better experience when watching the live action, at no extra cost."

"For the first time, we will broadcast every game live from across the EFL on the opening weekend. It's going to be a huge moment for football fans up and down the country and is a fitting way to kick-off our ground-breaking new partnership with the EFL."

"And this is just the beginning; Sky Sports+ unlocks the potential for us to keep evolving and finding new ways to deliver brilliant sport to our customers."

Sky Sports+ is set to redefine the way sports fans can consume their favourite action with a whole host of new features and coverage. It's a game-changer for football fans, with more matches than ever before available to watch on TV, streaming, and mobile devices.
