Richard Talman, the beloved expert on The Repair Shop, has said an emotional goodbye to his colleagues as he wrapped up filming for the popular series. He shared a heartfelt message and a sneak peek into the behind-the-scenes world with a video on Instagram revealing that series 10 had come to an end.

He captioned the footage: "Well, that's the end of filming series 10 for me! What a wonderful season with some fantastic people I have the pleasure to call workmates. You all know the experts, so wanted to feature the incredible production team that make the series possible."

Signing off his appreciative post, Richard added: "@therepairshop Thank you for having me. It's a wrap, as they say!"

Fellow expert Julian Wallis showed his affection with a warm comment: "Love you, brother. See you next year."

Fans didn't hesitate to express their adoration; one remarked: "Everyone involved in The Repair Shop is truly amazing. So much love for everyone involved in making this awesome programme."

Echoing the sentiment of appreciation, another wrote: "Richard, thanks for sharing this, these folks are the unsung heroes."

Astounded by the size of the team, a fan commented: "Wow! All those people," spotting the extensive crew behind the show's success.

Highlighting the collaborative effort, another chimed in: " Fantastic team, it's great to see what everyone else looks like, keep up the fantastic making of this programme."

Richard Talman's Journey to The Repair Shop

Away from the cameras, Richard runs his own jewellery business, leveraging skills honed since September 1995 after his secondary school graduation and studies at the prestigious Sir John Cass Faculty of Arts in Whitechapel, East London.

Early Career and Apprenticeship

Richard embarked on a City and Guilds diamond mounting course, which led him to an apprenticeship in Hatton Garden in May 1996. By June 2002, he had completed his apprenticeship with the Goldsmiths' Company and was made a Freeman.

From Pranks to The Repair Shop

Despite relishing his time on The Repair Shop, Richard revealed that when producers initially contacted him to come on the show as a jewellery expert, he thought someone was pranking him.

Recalling his reaction to OK Magazine, he shared: "There was an answering message on my workshop landline saying, 'I'm a researcher for a show called The Repair Shop and we wondered if you'd be interested in coming along to repair some jewellery on the television.'"

He almost deleted the message, assuming it was a wind-up: "I went to press delete because I assumed it was a prank, but my wife Googled the phone number and it came up as a production company, so I called them back!"

The Repair Shop is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
