Tottenham Hotspur faced Everton in their first home game of the season as today’s Premier League action continues. Spurs suffered a second-half equaliser last time out as Jamie Vardy returned to the top-flight with a fine equaliser after Pedro Porro has sent Ange Postecoglou’s side ahead in the first half.

That match, which Tottenham dominated, ended in a 1-1 draw and left the manager ruing how many chances his players missed in the final third and Postecoglou will be hoping for a more clinical display this afternoon.

For Everton, they were humbled at home by Brighton, conceding three goals in an opening game to forget. Sean Dyche has bemoaned how many injuries his squad has but will feel energised by Dominic Calvert-Lewin starting at the top of the pitch. If the Toffees can take any points away from London it’ll be a brilliant result.

Tottenham had themselves to blame for letting the three points slip against Leicester City in their Premier League opener last week, but they produced a clinical display today to beat a hapless Everton 4-0. The visitors were forced onto the defensive in north London from the off and Bissouma's stunning strike opened the scoring in the 14th minute before captain Son stole the ball from goalkeeper Pickford and fired in their second before the break. Romero headed in a Maddison corner to make it 3-0 in the 71st minute and it wasn't long before Son found his second, with Van de Ven finding his skipper after a blistering counterattack. Spurs register the first win of their 2024-25 campaign after accounting for 80.9% of the ball and an xG of 2.38. Everton, meanwhile, have conceded seven goals in two matches and only had one shot on target despite 10 attempts and an xG of 0.91, showing Dyche has plenty of work to do to get them firing this season. Spurs will next travel to Newcastle United next Sunday while the Toffees host League Two side Doncaster Rovers in the EFL Cup on Tuesday. Thanks for tuning in to this live coverage. We'll see you again soon!

Tottenham Dominate From The Off

Tottenham were the dominant force in the first half against Everton, registering nine shots, of which five were on target. Their opponents, on the other hand, are yet to register an attempt on target in the match. Spurs controlled the game with 75.4% possession and generated an xG of 1.46, compared to Everton's xG of 0.98. According to Opta's live predictions at the interval, Spurs have a 95.2% likelihood of winning this game while Everton's chances of a win stay at 0.8%. Dyche's men have a mountain to climb if they want to salvage something out of this outing in the next 45 minutes!

Son Heung-min Capitalizes On Pickford Blunder

Tottenham go into the interval with a well-deserved 2-0 lead against Everton in their second outing of the 2024-25 Premier League season. Postecoglou's side began the game strongly with Romero testing Pickford early. And there was nothing the Everton goalkeeper could do when Bissouma produced a stunning strike in the 14th minute to hand the hosts the advantage. Dyche's side fell further behind in the 25th minute as Son capitalised on a weak first touch from Pickford, dispossessing the keeper and firing into an open goal to make it 2-0. The Toffees managed to put some pressure on Tottenham towards the end of the first period by winning a string of corners, but the visitors have their work cut out to find a way back into this fixture and avoid a second defeat on the trot!

Spurs Double Their Lead Before Half-Time

Tottenham end the first half just like they started it, with Porro's left-foot strike from outside the box flying wide of Pickford's goal!

Everton Struggles Continue

Everton, without several first-choice defenders due to injury, were unable to put pressure on their hosts and manager Sean Dyche will be seeking a quick improvement when they host Bournemouth next week in what is already looking like an important game for his struggling side.
