Two teenagers have died and two other people have been injured in a crash involving a tractor and a car in Co Mayo. 

Gardaí and emergency services personnel attended the scene the collision, which happened on the N83 at Levallyroe shortly after 8pm on Friday. 

Two occupants of the car, a male juvenile in his teens and an adult male in his teens, sustained fatal injuries in the crash. 

A third occupant, also a male juvenile in his teens, was transferred to Mayo University Hospital where his current condition is described as serious.

The driver of the tractor, a man his 50s, was also brought to Mayo University Hospital for treatment. His injuries are not understood to be life-threatening.

A garda spokesperson said that a Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has been assigned to support the families of the two teenagers killed. 

The road where the accident tool place remains closed pending a technical examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí have also issued an appeal for witnesses.

Any road users who may have camera footage who were travelling in the area at the time of the incident have been asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.

Fatal Collision in Co Mayo
