A CRASH in Beaumaris caused the deaths of three people yesterday afternoon (August 28). Here is everything we know so far about the incident:
Shortly after 2.45pm yesterday, police responded to reports of a crash on Alma Street, close to Beaumaris Pier. Officers attended along with fire, ambulance and air ambulance crews.
At 3.31pm, North Wales Police said: “We are currently dealing with an incident in Beaumaris in the area of the pier. Multiple emergency services are in attendance and a road closure is in place. We are asking people to avoid the area and find alternative routes where possible.”
At 5.08pm, police confirmed that, sadly, three people were pronounced deceased at the scene. A North Wales Police spokesperson said: “Our efforts to establish the full circumstances of this incident remain ongoing. We continue to appeal to people to avoid the area of the High Street, which is expected to be closed for some time.”
Chief Inspector Caroline Mullen-Hurst added: “Sadly, we can confirm that three people have been fatally injured in the incident. We are appealing to anybody who witnessed the incident that hasn’t already spoken to officers, or anybody who might have dashcam footage, to please get in touch. The force said it issue a further update in due course.
The crash happened on Alma Street, on the seafront near Beaumaris Pier on Anglesey, police said.
A witness has described seeing a car hitting a pedestrian and then a house as three people died in a crash in north Wales.
The Welsh Ambulance Service said it was called to the scene shortly before 14:45 BST on Wednesday.
The witness said she was in a hotel overlooking the scene and was alerted to the incident by a “loud bang”, adding that the collision involved “a car hitting a pedestrian and then hitting a house”.
“It was just awful, the ambulance took ages to get here and when the police and the vehicles eventually came… there was nothing they could do once they got here,” she said.
“[The vehicle] was so mangled. It’s so mangled it’s not true,” she said.
“Everybody really rallied around, diverting the traffic and trying their best to give the people dignity, but it was pretty horrific.”
North Wales Police said officers wanted to speak to witnesses, and anyone with dashcam footage.
They also urged people to avoid the area.
Ynys Môn MP Llinos Medi called the incident “disastrous news”.
“I am thinking of everyone who has been affected today. It is news that has shaken our community here on the island,” she said.
Rhun ap Iorwerth, Plaid Cymru leader and Member of the Senedd for Ynys Môn, urged people to follow the police’s advice to avoid the area.
“This is devastating news and my condolences are with those affected and their loved ones,” he said.
Andrew John, the Archbishop of Wales, and David Morris, the Bishop of Bardsey, issued a joint statement offering their “sympathy and prayers” to all those involved in the crash.
“This is devastating news for the community and for the friends and family of the three people who have sadly died,” they said.

“I ask anyone who has any information to assist the police in their investigation to come forward,” he added.
A spokesperson for the Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed two emergency ambulances, one Cymru high acuity response unit paramedic, one advanced paramedic practitioner, one duty operational manager and one locality manager were sent to the scene.
