Two 16-year-old boys have been arrested following an armed robbery at a Nottingham store. Four e-bikes totalling £22,000 in value were stolen from Rutland Cycling on Nottingham Road, New Basford, on June 11.
The offenders used a pair of shears to remove the high-value bikes, which were cable-tied to a display, according to police. The shears were then used by thieves to threaten members of staff when challenged, along with a Stanley knife and a cycle helmet, which they'd removed from a display and also subsequently stole.
The group then made off with the e-bikes down Nottingham Road. The two 16-year-old suspects were arrested following a public appeal for information made by Nottinghamshire Police.
Following the appeal, members of the public came forward with the names of two individuals who were both arrested on Thursday, August 22, in the Broxtowe estate area. The boys were taken into custody for questioning and bailed with conditions pending further investigation work.
A 29-year-old man and a 13-year-old boy were also arrested previously in connection with the investigation. Both remain on conditional bail while the investigation continues. Detective Sergeant Robert Palethorpe said: "Our investigation into this armed robbery continues to gather pace and I am pleased to report we’ve now made further arrests.
"We had a really good response to the police appeal and I’d like to thank the public for their help. Several people called us to put forward names of those they believe could be responsible and several new lines of inquiry emerged from the information we received.
"This is a good example of police and the community working together to help keep our city safe."
