West Ham United's summer transfer window has been dominated by incomings. The Hammers have made nine first-team signings including bringing in Max Kilman from Wolves and Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United. And now with just four days left in the window, according to recent reports, Julen Lopetegui’s focus has shifted to outgoings. The Hammers boss is rumoured to want the club to offload several players with Scottish midfielder Andy Irving set to be the first outgoing.

According to Claret and Hugh, the 24-year-old, who joined just one year ago, is in line to leave the club in the coming days. It is believed that Carlos Soler’s impending arrival from Paris Saint-Germain will signal the end of Irving’s time in London. The midfielder is reportedly a late transfer target for Italian side Atalanta.

There could still be plenty of incomings and outgoings at West Ham before the summer transfer window slams shut. However, West Ham head coach Julen Lopetegui has been told that he must shift some of the deadwood first in the summer transfer window, before he can make that happen. If the Hammers boss manages to move on some players before deadline day, he will then be able to bring in one or two more new signings, just as he said he’s desperate to do.

The summer transfer window has been a spectacular one for West Ham so far, with eight top-class players arriving at the London Stadium. Six players have left the club, and sources inside the London Stadium have suggested that Tim Steidten is currently working on two more new signings. These are incredibly exciting times to be a West Ham United fan.

However, things could get even better for us over the course of the next few days, if the club manage to raise some funds by moving on some of the fringe players who quite simply aren’t good enough. The West Ham owners are desperately trying to raise some cash before Friday’s 11pm deadline, so that they can provide Lopetegui with extra funds. I’m sure there will be plenty of activity over the course of the next five days.

However, one player who had high hopes at the start of pre-season seemingly now faces a London Stadium exit. Andy Irving is on the chopping block according to one of David Sullivan’s confidants Claret and Hugh. It is suggested that the impending arrival of Carlos Soler could see the 24-year-old on the hunt for a new club.

Interestingly, Andy Irving has been linked with a move to Atalanta this summer already. And the Scot’s future with West Ham now looks bleak, with his days at the London Stadium seemingly numbered. Last season, the 24-year-old midfielder suggested that it was his dream to play for West Ham in the Premier League. That seemed a little far fetched at the time, but Lopetegui gave the Scot plenty of chances to shine during the friendly games this summer.

West Ham midfielder James Ward-Prowse recently admitted that he has been really impressed by Irving during pre-season. He actually looked decent at times, and even scored a wonder goal during our win away at Dagenham back in July. However, if we’re all being honest here, he’s a long way off of the levels required to play Premier League football.

Is It Time For Andy Irving to Move On?

Evaluating the Potential of Andy Irving

If West Ham manage to sell Andy Irving before the summer transfer window closes, Lopetegui should be in a strong position to make further reinforcements. However, the question is whether Irving will be able to secure a move that will benefit his career. While he has shown potential during pre-season, he's still a long way off of the level needed to succeed in the Premier League.

Is Soler The Catalyst For Irving's Departure?

With the impending arrival of Carlos Soler, a Spanish international who boasts significant experience in La Liga, it seems inevitable that Irving's chances of playing time will be severely limited. This could be the driving force behind his potential departure.

A Look at Irving's Time at West Ham

During his time at West Ham, Irving has shown flashes of talent, but he has struggled to establish himself as a key player in the squad. This could be attributed to several factors, including competition for playing time and the need to adapt to the demands of Premier League football. While his time at West Ham has been far from fruitful, it's important to note that his potential remains untested.

What's Next For Andy Irving?

It remains to be seen whether Irving will secure a move to Atalanta or any other club before the transfer window closes. Regardless of his destination, it's clear that a change of scenery could be beneficial for his development. A move away from West Ham might provide him with the opportunity to gain regular playing time and showcase his talents.

The Transfer Window: A Period of Change

The current transfer window is a period of significant change for West Ham. With a number of new signings arriving and a few departures expected, the squad is undergoing a transformation. It's a crucial time for both Lopetegui and the players, as they strive to create a winning team that can compete in both the Premier League and the Europa League. The outcome of the window will have a major impact on the club's future success.

A New Chapter for West Ham?

With the transfer window nearing its end, West Ham is poised for a new chapter. The arrival of Soler will bring a fresh dynamic to the midfield, and Lopetegui will be looking to build a strong team around him. However, the club's success will also depend on making smart decisions regarding outgoings. The departure of fringe players like Andy Irving could pave the way for further reinforcements, giving West Ham the resources they need to achieve their goals.

The 2023-24 season promises to be an exciting one for West Ham, and the club will be hoping to make a strong impact in both domestic and European competitions.
