The Williamson County Election Commission met Thursday to discuss preparations for the Nov. 5 state general election. Along with approving qualified candidates to appear on local ballots and appointing poll officials, the commission approved locations and polling hours for seven early voting centers and set a date for their post-August election performance audit.

In their efforts to mitigate confusion during voting periods, the WCEC has tried to maintain consistent polling locations and hours throughout the 2024 elections. However, voters will see a slight change in early voting locations for the November election due to facility restraints at Columbia State Community College in Franklin.

While the campus served as a new early voting location in the August election, the start of classes has made it logistically difficult to use the location for early voting in November. Chairman Jonathan Duda and Election Administrator Chad Gray have looked for alternative locations in the Cool Springs corridor but have not found a suitable replacement.

“It’s unfortunate, but I think we’re going to have to make do with what we have,” Duda said.

The commission adopted a list of seven polling locations with consistent hours across six of them. All locations — the WCEC office, Brentwood Library, Franklin Recreation Center, College Grove Community Center, Fairview Recreation Center, Nolensville Recreation Center and Longview Recreation Center — will be open from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on weekdays from Oct. 16-31. The WCEC Office will open at 8 a.m. and close at 2 p.m. on Saturdays during that period, while all other locations will open at 9 a.m.

The Williamson County Election Commission has announced the following early voting locations and hours for the upcoming November general election:

  • Brentwood Library: Open from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on weekdays.
  • Franklin Recreation Center: Open from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on weekdays.
  • College Grove Community Center: Open from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on weekdays.
  • Fairview Recreation Center: Open from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on weekdays.
  • Nolensville Recreation Center: Open from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on weekdays.
  • Longview Recreation Center: Open from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on weekdays.

Early Voting Dates

Early voting will take place from October 16 to 31, 2024.

Other Election Updates

Additionally, the commission approved qualified local candidates to appear on November ballots for Fairview, Nolensville, Thompson’s Station and County Commission District 10. Poll officials for early voting and election day were approved, but anyone wishing to work in upcoming elections should contact the commission and find more information on its website below.

The WCEC will meet again on Sept. 26 at 3 p.m. for its post-election performance audit and to approve the absentee counting board for the November election.

Key Takeaways

The Williamson County Election Commission has made every effort to ensure that voters have access to convenient and consistent early voting locations. While there is a slight change in locations this year due to facility constraints, the commission has worked hard to provide alternative options for voters.

The commission encourages all registered voters to familiarize themselves with the early voting locations and hours, and to plan their votes accordingly.
