The weekend does see some changes to opening hours - particularly on the bank holiday Monday. Here we compile a list of the planned opening hours by the various UK supermarket chains.

Aldi

Aldi has announced its store opening times for the upcoming summer bank holiday weekend. The supermarket's branches will operate their usual hours on Saturdays and Sundays. However, on Monday, August 26, stores in England and Wales will be open from 7am until 8pm. Opening hours in Scotland will remain unchanged (8am 10pm). The opening times of some stores may vary, so customers are advised to check details on Aldi's website before their trip.

Tesco

Tesco has indicated that opening hours over the bank holiday weekend will differ from store to store and by location, so they are advising customers to find out their local store opening times on the store locator although there is some basic guidance. Stores will operate with normal trading hours on Saturday, August 26 and Sunday, August 27.

On the bank holiday Monday, opening hours will vary depending on location and store type - many of Tesco's large stores across the UK will be operating with reduced hours. On Monday, August 26, the majority of large stores open from 8am to 6pm. Some may be open until 8pm. Express stores will be open as usual.

Lidl

Lidl shoppers will find all branches open as normal on Saturday, August 24, and Sunday, August 25.

On bank holiday Monday, August 26, stores in England and Wales and outside the M25 are open from 8am to 8pm.

Marks and Spencer

Fans of the luxury supermarket will find that stores remain open as usual over Saturday and Sunday.

On the Monday many stores - like the one in Llandudno - will reduce hours to 8am to 6pm, compared to the usual 8pm closing.

Asda

Asda stores will be open for their usual hours on Saturday and Sunday of the bank holiday weekend but there will be slightly shorter hours for some stores on the Monday. Some Asda supermarkets have 24-hour opening while others will close between 10pm and midnight. Customers can check trading hours for their local store using the store locator.

Morrisons

On Monday, August 26, Aldi stores across England and Wales will open at 8am and close at 8pm. Aldi stores in Scotland will remain open until 10pm as usual.

This is because Scotland celebrated its summer bank holiday earlier this month on August 5.

Tesco

Tesco store timings may vary based on location, customers are urged to check their nearest store for up to date information.

On Saturday, most larger Tesco stores open at either 6am or 7am, and close as late as midnight. On Sunday, most larger stores are open from 10am or 11am, until 4pm or 5pm.

On the bank holiday Monday, the majority of Tesco larger stores will be open from 8am to 6pm in England and Wales, or from 8am and 8pm in Scotland. Tesco Express stores typically open at 6am and close at 11pm or midnight from Monday through to Sunday.

These hours will remain unchanged on the bank holiday Monday at most stores.

Asda

On the upcoming weekend, Asda stores will be operating under their usual hours. Typically, most Asda outlets open between 6am or 7am and shut between 10pm and midnight on Saturdays.

On Sundays, the stores are open for a six-hour window from either 10am or 11am to between 4pm and 5pm.

For the bank holiday Monday, many Asda stores will adjust their opening times by an hour earlier or later. The larger Asda stores will generally open later between 7am and 8am and close between 10pm and 11pm.

However, this isn't a blanket rule as some Asda stores will be opening as early as 6am. Asda Express stores will maintain their regular hours on the bank holiday Monday - this includes those that operate 24 hours.

Morrisons

Morrisons will commence operations at either 6am or 7am and conclude between 10pm and midnight on Saturday. This schedule also applies to Morrisons Daily stores.

Some of these outlets operate round the clock, hence will be open from midnight to midnight. On Sundays, the larger Morrisons stores in England and Wales open their doors at either 10am and 11am and close between 4pm and 5pm.

Morrisons Daily stores will be open from 7am until 10pm.

On the bank holiday itself, the larger Morrisons stores will be open between 7am and 8am and close at 8pm. However, some stores may extend their operating hours until 10pm.

All Morrisons stores in Scotland will continue trading under their normal hours throughout the weekend.

Sainsbury's superstores will maintain their usual opening hours on Saturday and Sunday, opening between 6am and 7am and closing between 10pm and 11pm on Saturday. On Sunday, stores will open from either 10am to 4pm or 11am to 5pm.

On the bank holiday Monday, Sainsbury's larger stores will be open from 8am until 8pm while its convenience stores will be open from 7am until either 10pm or 11pm over the entire weekend. Scottish stores will operate as per their normal schedule.

Lidl's stores will also follow their regular timings on Saturday, from 7am until 10pm, and on Sunday it'll be open from either 10am until 4pm or 11am until 5pm. On August 26, stores in England and Wales and outside the M25 are open from 8am to 8pm.

Inside the M25, branches are open between 8am and 10pm. However, these opening times can vary depending on the location of your local store, for example, if it's in a shopping centre then it could close earlier.

Stores in Scotland will operate as per their normal schedule on August 26.

Waitrose's opening hours differ significantly from store to store. Some stores open as early as 7am whilst others don't open until 9am.

This is the same with its closing hours with some shutting shop for the day as early as 5pm and others as late as 10pm. The bank holiday hours do show that some Waitrose stores will be opening under their usual hours and closing an hour or two earlier.
